1929Jimmy Doolittle performs the first flight without a window, proving that full instrument flying from take off to landing is possible.
1930 – Astronaut John Young is born. Commander of the first ever space shuttle mission, he became the first person to fly into space six times in a career that was one of the busiest of any NASA astronaut.
1960USS Enterprise, the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, is launched.
2014 – The Mars Orbiter Mission makes India the first nation on Earth to do so on its first attempt.
