A polaron grid was a type of protective energy field, based on polarons.

Taresia was surrounded by a high-density polaron grid, projected by a network of artificial satellites.

The multiphasic chamber built by the USS Equinox crew to contain nucleogenic lifeforms contained a polaron grid and a submolecular resequencer. These modifications allowed them to convert the lifeforms' remains into a crystalline energy source for their warp drive.
