Navigational control post

Navigational control posts are stations within a particular area of space, which guide and manage vessels through that area.

While these types of posts are able to scan and communicate within a wide area, the quality of communications degraded with distance from the post.

• At the extreme edge of scanner range, only audio contact was possible.

Within Cardassian territory, there are at least 24 of these posts.

• These posts use sensors to determine the types of vessels within their territory, and then decide if they were a threat or not.
• These posts also dispatched repair ships to assist disabled vessels, should they choose.
