Personal History

Jake was born on Earth, at a hospital near his parents farm in Scotland. He spent a lot of his early childhood at the farm, and learned a lot about hard work and labor. Often he would go Mountain climbing with David, his best friend. Once they got lost, but managed to make camp before they were located and rescued about 3 hours later, in which Jake was given a very harsh scolding. He was very skilled in wood carvings, and often made them as gifts to people.

When he reached 9, his parents had saved up enough money to send him to a local school, where he got picked on a lot because of his "nerdiness, which was what got him his low self-esteem. When he was 13, however, he got into a large fight at school, damaging several school classrooms and properties. He was expelled, and continued to work at the farm, receiving tuition from a local friend. He was also very interested particularly in combat and wars, which was what got him interested in the security position.

His father had told him a story before when he was 14, about a Half-brother related to his side. His father told of a previous engagement, but he had divorced from his previous wife while she was still pregnant with Antonio, leading to his unsureness about whether the pregnancy was successful or not. Jake was extremely interested by that story, and vowed to find that brother, and throughout his life he has always been finding out and researching about his father's previous engagement whenever he has time.

At the age of 15, an unidentified mine exploded near his house, severely wounding him and a few other civilians. There were also a few deaths. The question as to who planted the mine was still to this day unclear, however it was a very shocking moment for him.

He also rescued a rather large band of scientists on an expedition near his village before. The band had been collecting underground rock samples on their local mountain when the collector malfunctioned and blew up a bridge nearby, their only way to leave the mountain. Upon their village hearing this, Jake was tasked with bringing them food and to repair the bridge. The endeavour was successful, and he received a commendation for what he did.

Due to mishandling of a lighter when he was 15 and a half, he had accidentally set a nearby grove on fire. Many people came to help, however some way or other, he had become trapped in the grove, and could only be rescued 3 hours after. He had many burns and nearly died because of the intense smoke coming from burning green vegetation, which was what led to his fear of fire. To this day, whenever he encounters bonfires or torches or any other flame-producing item, he chooses to stand a safe distance back. In extreme cases, he can even faint.

He got into the Academy via a visiting Starfleet officer in his village. His time at the Academy, however, was far more interesting than any of his previous experiences. He was a very punctual student, and loved taking walks through the academy campus. He did find it hard to make friends, but nevertheless got through the academy exams with flying colors.

Before he left for Starfleet Academy, though, his father gave him the family heirloom: A Starfleet Type 1 Phaser circa 2260. It was a family heirloom that, according to his great grandfather's will, was given to each and every young man or woman who joined Starfleet. In order to continue on with this tradition, Jake tried, and successfully brought it on board, and hid it in his quarters, hoping to this day no one would know and find out about it, seeming as it might be a violation of Starfleet regulations.

Most Painful Experience: Explosion of the mine at his village, both mentally and physically
Best Time: Mountain climbing and camping with David
Most Crucial Experience: Saving the group of scientists on the mountain, the grove incident and the explosion of the mine. Those experiences were both very eye opening for him and represented a large turn or change in his life
Role Model: Constable Odo, of Deep Space 9. Jake admired him because he almost did not let anything or anyone get into the way of his work, and always served justice
