Personal History

Martok was born in ShiKahr, on planet Vulcan. His parents were T'Starla and Christopher Kemarrin. Growing up, Martok spent most of his time aboard Starfleet vessels since his parents were both in Starfleet. T'Starla was a medical officer and Christopher was a Security Officer onboard the same ship for many years. Because of this, Martok is very accustomed to being surrounded by different species and adapts quickly to cultural differences.

Martok is an athletically inclined human/vulcan hybrid who is extremely competitive. Standing at 183cm, he is not a physically imposing individual. His appearance is deceiving though as he possesses the superior strength of the Vulcans.

He was raised in Vulcan disciplines by his mother and his father supported this training. At the age of 13 Martok was left on planet Vulcan with his aunt. During his time on Vulcan he studied with Vulcan children and excelled at studies. He was particularly astute in the topics of quantum mechanics, astronautical physics, and mathematics.

Despite his academic success on Vulcan, he was frequently picked on due to his human father. He was able to ignore most of the jokes, although there was one child in particular who made life extremely difficult on Vulcan. The child's name was Sekar, his father was a prominent figure in the city and because of this, Sekar had an extreme arrogance. After months of making fun of Martok, Martok finally reasoned with Sekar by pointing out that Sekar spent most of his time alone and used his jibes as a way to make himself feel superior to others. Following this, Sekar and Martok became good friends.

Towards the end of his time spent on Vulcan, Martok's father informed him that he was taking an assignment for Starfleet that would take him out of communication for some time. After receiving this news, Martok left Vulcan to join Starfleet, pursue adventure and to seek out new challenges His mother now resides in California working at Starfleet Headquarters.

Starfleet Career

Martok’s first assignment with Starfleet following his graduation from the Academy was on the USS Columbia as a tactical officer. Captain Adaran 225 was the commanding officer of the vessel upon his assignment. Following his first mission and the ship's return to Star Base Bravo, Martok was promoted to the rank of Ensign.

During the first mission, Martok piloted the Eidolon for the away team who was attempting to retrieve valuable information for Starfleet Intelligence. While the away team was fighting off equipment breakdown, avalanches, worm-like creatures, violent natives, and Shard ships; the Columbia was attempting to avoid Inquisitor ships. At some point during the mission, Chief Tactical Officer Klapproth was killed while attempting to save a fellow crewmember. Most of the crew seemed to take the loss rather hard, Martok on the other hand was familiar with death and managed to cope with the loss using Vulcan meditation techniques The hole in the crew left by Tracey was a large one and something that Martok would have to adjust to over time. Despite not knowing her for long, Tracey had impacted Martok and helped him to open up more than he typically would with the rest of the crew.

The first couple missions were plagued by unexpected situations, loss of crewmembers, and extremely dangerous situations. Fighting enemies on two fronts, Martok had engaged Romulans and Shard ships. Both of these missions tested Martok's training and abilities to their fullest and he grew immensely from them. Despite the difficulties experienced by the crew, Martok began to familiarize himself with the crew.

On the way to his most recent mission, Martok fell ill and required emergency surgery to remove an unknown device that had been implanted in his neck. The purpose the device is still unknown although they had gathered that it was transmitting rough positional data to another device. The secondary device was programmed to upload the data when they returned to Starbase Bravo but the crew had managed to disable it before the data could be transmitted.

After the most recent mission was finished, Martok was awarded a Commendation medal for his ability to perform his duties under extreme stress and keeping the ship and her crew in one piece. He was also subsequently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
