Macrovirus

The macrovirus is a virus native to the Delta Quadrant that first infect the Garan.

It started off as a normal, microscopic virus, but evolved into a "macrovirus" by incorporating growth hormones into its amino acids.

Progression

• The virus starts in a microscopic phase.
• It infects a host, causes fever and eventually unconsciousness.
• It moves into the victims nest, where it grows to 0.5 millimeters.
• It then "hatches", burrowing out of the neck and becoming airborne.

Note: It grows very rapidly, reaching up to a meter before it stops.

The Doctor EMH from the USS Voyager was able to develop an antigen to kill the virus and cure its victims.
