Kalandan Organism

A deadly organism that was accidentally created by the Kalandan species and subsequently destroyed their entire species. It is believed to be a virus-like or "near-virus" plant parasite with subatomic anomalies, though exact data is unavailable. It is believed to be airborne because of its rapid spreading ability among those in infected spaces or on infected planets. If left untreated, it is extremely virulent and 100% fatal.

Possible treatment, if detected: Perform a level one bio-scan to supply the transport computer with the specifications needed for bio-filtration. Then transport the patient to a known uninfected space, NOT back to the primary vessel, possibly a shuttle craft parked outside the primary vessel. Perform a second level one bio-scan to verify that all traces of the infection are gone before moving the patient back to the primary vessel. Also, any biologicals left in the transport stream must be purged prior to transport reuse.

The above treatment may need to be repeated and transport testing should be performed to verify a complete purging of the organism.
