Forrester-Trent Syndrome is a rare degenerative neurological disorder.
The disease causes tremors on the hands, and can also cause severe seizures. If untreated, the disease can result in paralysis or death.
A genetic disease, Forrester-Trent Syndrome is usually inherited from the parents.
However, there have been reported cases in which the disease was caused by a random mutation.
The gene causing the disease appears to be dominant, as only one of the parents must carry it.
In 2370, a neuro-stabilization regimen was the treatment used by Starfleet doctors.
Unfortunately, the treatment is not 100% reliable, though in most cases the patients responded to treatment well. In many cases, the effects of the disease could even be reversed.
