Farpoint Station

These spaceborne entities (one of which was enslaved by the Bandi to create Farpoint Station on Deneb IV) are creatures that are able to live and travel in the vacuum of space and have the ability to transform into a variety of other objects. They can also create new objects using available matter, in much the same way as a replicator, according to the needs and wants of those it senses nearby, likely using telepathy or empathy. The species requires raw energy for sustenance to fuel both it's transformations and its replication of objects.
Fairpoint Station's mate, the only other member of this species ever encountered, appeared in the form of a saucer shaped ship and fired on the neighbouring "Old Bandi City" until the first entity was freed by the Enterprise-D. The two creatures then left the system, destination unknown.
