Bioforming is a process that involves the transformation of an individual's physiology at a cellular level.
Once bioformed, an individual can live in environments that would otherwise be deadly to their species. However, they also could no longer tolerate their natural environment.
Examples:
- In 2269, Captain Kirk and Commander Spock experienced a type of bioforming when visiting the planet Argo, which rendered them unable to breathe out of water.
- In 2374, The Doctor diagnosed Lieutenant Tom Paris and Ensign Harry Kim as having been bioformed on a Class-Y planet in the Vaskan sector of the Delta Quadrant.
