- During this year, Starfleet is in the process of resettling Romulans who are threatened by their system's impending supernova.
- On April 5, synthetic beings launch an attack on Mars, destroying the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in the process.
- After the Synthetic attack on Mars, Starfleet abandons the Romulans in favor of keeping their own organization together, and Federation members protected from further terrorist attacks.
- Synthetic life forms are formally banned, and Admiral jean-Luc Picard resigns.
