Childhood

When she was growing up, Jessica spent a lot of time moving around Betazed competing in gymnastics competitions with her parents who were fitness instructors. During this time, Jessica met fellow athlete Hulan Liu. The two instantly became friends despite the seven-year age gap, and the two often talked about Hulan’s career in Star Fleet and life aboard a Starship.

When she hit puberty, Jessica went through the phase of not being to control her telepathic abilities, unintentionally getting great but explicit details about what it was like to be married to Paul Braggins – Hulan’s ex-husband and Star Fleet Officer of quite high renown. It seemed good to her, but from what she saw Hulan’s family got in the way of that. Hulan’s one regret was letting her family get in the way of things, and hoped that he had moved on with out her.

Teenage years

Unsurprisingly considering her parents’ careers and her already growing interest in gymnastics and sports, Jessica joined the track and field team at school. It was the one thing that kept her mind going as well was the field of medicine. She was forever reading about new advances they were making in the journals and decided that it was something she wanted to spend the rest of her life doing. She also took a back up course in engineering for in case something was to go wrong in her career path. Her parents, while disappointed that she was not going to follow them into the field of sports, supported her in her decision to become a doctor while Hulan helped her write her application. Shortly after her nineteenth birthday, she received a message saying she had been accepted and began preparing straight away. Still one thing that bothered her about the whole thing was who was this Paul Braggins? To hear about him was one thing but to meet him would complete the picture.

The Academy

Before her Academy Training began, Jessica took a visit to rural China with Hulan where she was able to experience their culture for the first time. Earth was much different than she expected. Hulan's family was nice to her but seldom thought of anything else but tradition. The whole idea of the federation to them was out of the question, it was the perfect choice for her. To go out and explore, and helping others. Life on the ships was going to be hard and she knew this. It was the one thing she was looking forward to.

Career

On her first assignment things were all a learning experience for her. The Star Fleet way of doing things, and even the interpersonal relationships that came with it were all new as well. With all the assignments that came her way, Jessica had seen death for her very first time, and it shook her up a little. The people in sickbay did what they could to help her, but there were some things a person could not shake. That is where she also met her first love Lt[Cdr.] Ptaka. It took her a while to get used to her ways, a bit stubborn at times but than again so was Jessica.

When the big E was decommissioned the whole crew was transferred to the Gettysburg. This is where things took a turn for the worse and it all started when Ptaka was transferred off the ship. On their first assignment on the new ship when they got the kind of patient that every doctor prays they never get. It was a surgically altered Romulan with telekinetic properties who made a telekinetic attack against her as he threw her across the room and took away the color of her eyes. The whole thing lasted only a few days but it was enough to alter her perception on everything. Soon everything that could go wrong did go wrong, when the last friend on the ship became Chief Medical Officer. It was then that he, like all other Chief medical officers she had served with, went cold real fast. It got to the point where she felt like he turned on her. The end result was her eventual transfer to the Sheridan.

It was there that she had come across her beloved Ptaka again, but little known to Jessica was that she had moved on to another. It broke her heart, and even went on a small drinking binge doing all the things Jessica did really hate. From that point on it would be a long time before Jessica would allow anyone to get that close to her. That is also about the time when Robert Stack took the Chief Medical Officers office. Shortly after the death of the existing one.

For him it didn't take too long for Jessica to really get annoyed. For him the first order of business was to send her to the brig, and that was a big mistake. During her first time in the brig Jessica tried to kill herself by placing her hands on the shield, and was put in sick bay for intensive care. As a result she was also put in to therapy about lingering doubts that were going on in her life, and how she was going to go on with her career. It also left lingering doubts about anyone who took the position as CMO. Three ships, six CMOs and not one she got along with, all of them as she felt stabbed her in the back and threw her out to the wolves - with hopes the new one would break the cycle. But so far there is no hope.

| Painful= The day that she broke her leg landing wrong in her final competition | Time= The first time she won anything.
