Wallenberg Class
In starship classification, a tug, tow ship, or towing vessel was a starship specialized for towing other starships or similarly large objects with tractor beams.
History
Created in the style of the 23rd-Century Ptolemy-class Tug, the Federation Tug is used by Star Fleet to transport low-priority military and government cargoes (civilian freighters being adequate for other loads), the tug was a full-fledged starship with limited armament suitable to its role in the fleet. Furthermore, the Tug is equipped with powerful Impulse Engines and Tractor Beams to retrieve damaged or disabled starships in situations where Work Bees would not be viable.
The Tug can carry up to three cargo pods. If only carrying two, one but not both could be a double-mass pod, and if one was a double-mass pod, it must be the one directly connected to the tug itself, at the front.
Depending on assignment, Tugs are often commanded by Officers from the Star Fleet Corps of Engineers or from Star Fleet Logistics and Support Command.
