VISOR

The VISOR.

The VISOR, acronym for Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement, is a medical device that was used in the Federation to aid patients who have suffered loss of eyesight.

The VISOR detects electromagnetic signals across the entire EM spectrum, and transmits those signals to the brain through neural implants in the temples of the individual via delta-compressed wavelengths. The result is a vastly different visual acuity, with VISOR-wearers able to see in the infra-red and ultra-violet ranges, and beyond. To normal Human eyes, the images relayed through the VISOR can seem disorienting and unfamiliar.

By 2373, the VISOR had been replaced by ocular implants.

Capabilities

The VISOR has many capabilities besides simple vision:

• Using a visual acuity transmitter, a live video feed can be taken.
• The user can see if someone is lying by tracking their perspiration.
• An outsider can tap-in to directly input scenes into the user’s visual cortex.
• It can couple with a tricorder to detect transporter beacons that are emitting a neutrino pulse.
• It can be reconfigured to emit a hypersonic pulse.
• As it is capable of E-band emissions, an enemy could tap into it and potentially brainwash the user.
• It emits a short-range subspace field pulse.
