*As of Stardate 21201.16, the Columbia has been equipped with stealth technology. Designed by SFSOCOM engineers, the device is a modified version of the stealth technology tested in the vessel's [[Shuttlecraft_-_Type_9X|Type 9X stealth shuttlecraft]], the [[Shuttlecraft_-_Type_9X|Eidolon]]. The original technology featured light-bending abilities that made the shuttlecraft invisible to the naked eye as well as sensor interference technology that allowed it to mimic the conditions that produce sensor glitches and ghosts on the equipment of most known governments and manufacturers. It did not fully hide itself, however, in accordance with the [[Treaty of Algeron]]. After the destruction of [[Bajor]] and several key Federation facilities by an unknown and potentially new enemy, the decision was made to upgrade the Eidolon's tech. The sensor interference technology was replaced by a more advanced version that effectively hid its target from detection by all known sensor systems. The technology was expanded and applied to the Columbia as well. The Type 1X Stealth Device, as it is officially known , is highly classified, and cannot be engaged in the presence of other vessels.
