Personal History

Growing up Tala had an electric life. Her parents had always been supportive of her, however she did test their patience during her teenage years. For the most part, it was everything typical of a young woman growing up until she had a little to much to drink while she was seventeen. During that episode, she ran afoul of the local law enforcement agency due to the underaged drinking.

Because of how much they cared for their daughter, Tala’s parents gave her a taste of what was to come if she continued acting out like she had. Spending a couple nights in a jail cell, Tala began to learn how disastrous her actions could be, despite her hangover. When she finally returned home, Tala wanted to do everything she could to make sure she would never wind up in similar circumstances.

With her high school years over, and her new life track just beginning, Tala set her eyes on Star Fleet Academy. There was no doubt I. Her mind that she’d be able to contribute more than what she’d earned in her life. In the beginning, the administration was initially kept an eye on her due to her slight criminal background, which was nothing but a misdemeanor for underage drinking. Those concerns began to wash away as Tala began to excel in her studies.

During her Academy years, Tala found that she was quite talented in the study of engineering. Most of the other cadets around her had dreams and aspirations of being captains and whatnot. While it was something Tala wouldn’t turn down, it wasn’t the driving force she experienced.

Advancing her studies, Tala became enamored with the new quantum slipstream drive that was coming into fruition. From the successful test flight of the USS Spirit to the present, Tala believed the drive would be the hottest thing in Star Fleet Engineering for a hot minute. So the young woman set aside most of her training into the new engine.

Entering her final year at the Academy, Tala’s superb grades qualified her to apply for the Academy program to receive hands-on training to help her succeed when she actually earned her commission. It was a great honor for Tala as only as only a small fraction of the senior cadets even qualified for the program. The cadet was going to try harder than her best out in the field, as she knew she was also representing the instructors that helped teach her.

Awaiting her assignment, Tala hoped for everything that she’d be doing her final studies on one of the new ships from the Fleet Modernization Program. Specifically, she was hoping to be assigned to one of the newer Luna-class ships. However, the only ship available at the time was the USS Yoritomo.

It wasn’t exactly the news Tala wanted to hear. The silver lining that she saw, was that while it was an older class of ship the vessel itself was relatively new since it had just been commissioned in the last year. So there was no doubt some engineering advancements from the original Sun-Tzu-class production. She was going to give it her all, and try to give her superiors a lasting impression.
