A subspace vacuole or spectral rupture is a subspace anomaly, identified as a type of dimensional distortion.
They can act as a means of transit between dimensions.
They do pose a hazard to starship navigation, as contact with a vacuole while traveling at warp speed could lead to the destruction of one's ship.
Fun Fact:
- Harry Kim of the USS Voyager was accidentally drawn through a subspace vacuole in 2371.
