Introduction

What makes Star Fleet Marines stand out in the field of battle is their intensity, thoroughness, and quality of training. As such, there are different paths of training and education marines take in developing their skill sets in which they employ in the service and defense of the Federation.

SFMC Training Command falls under the authority of SMFC Personnel. It is directed by Brigadier General Patrick Nunez.

Marine Enlisted Training

Enlisted men and women in the SFMC are required to pass initial medical and psychological exams, as well as posses a valid secondary school diploma. Once enlisted, the recruits are sent to SFMC Boot Camp to begin their basic training. Upon completion, enlisted marines are either sent to Marine Combat Training (MCT) or the School of Infantry (SOI) to continue their training as combat marines. From there marines to go on for additional specified training at SFMC Specialty Schools in order to gain their certifications.

SFMC Boot Camp

Star Fleet Marine Corps Boot Camp, otherwise known as "Recruit Training" or "Basic Training" is a program of initial training that each recruit must successfully complete upon joining the Star Fleet Marine Corps in order to be assigned to a unit. Individuals entering the Marine Corps will undergo Boot Camp at one of the various Marine Corps Recruit Depots (MCRD) throughout the Federation.

Marine Combat Training

The Mission of Marine Combat Training is to instruct non-infantry marines in the necessary and vital combat skills that make all marines the efficient and professional warriors on the battlefield. The spirit of MCT is the focus that 'every marine is a rifleman'.
The training takes approximately one month, and touches on the basic skills taught to marine infantryman, but not at the same depth. The endpoint objective is for each marine, regardless of MOS, able to function in combat. Given the nature of the battlefield and lessons learned from battles in the past, the front line isn't always clearly defined, and the necessity of an entire marine corps capable of bringing the fight to the enemy, wherever he may be, is vital to the continuing success of the modern Star Fleet Marine Corps.

School of Infantry

The SFMC School of Infantry is composed of several courses whose goals are to train marines in the various tasks expected of a marine infantryman.

This course trains entry-level marines to acquire the specialty of Marine Rifleman. The course of instruction lasts approximately two months, and covers the various topics needed to produce the backbone of every infantry unit across the fleet.

Light Combat Vehicle Training

This course trains entry level infantry marines to acquire the specialty of crewman for the various light combat vehicles employed by the SFMC.

SFMC Specialty Schools

SFMC Specialty Schools include the various courses of instruction that train non-infantry entry-level and advanced marines in the certification of their individual specialties after the completion of Marine Combat Training. While not specialized as infantry marines, all marines maintain a specialty and assignment in a combat arms role. As a department of Star Fleet, most marine logistic, administrative, and other support roles are fulfilled by fleet personnel rather than marines. This is especially true with medical personnel. All medical personnel in SFMC Units are not marines, but rather Star Fleet medics, known as Corpsman. Marines are not trained above the basic level of combat life-saving and emergency medical care.

Combat Engineer’s Course

This course trains entry level marines to acquire the certification of Combat Engineer. Marines receive basic training in a variety of fields to include fortifications, demolitions, combat and field technology, and combat and field computer operations. From there, marines continue to pursue a specialty in one of the specific fields to build on the basic training they already received in that concentration.

Marine Officer Training

SFMC Officers are recruited from candidates who have completed secondary school and passed the entrance exam for the Star Fleet Marine Corps Academy, part of Star Fleet Academy in San Francisco on Earth. Upon graduation from the SFMC Academy the cadets are commissioned as Second Lieutenants and sent to extended training at The Basic School (TBS) on Mars at Gibraltar point, where they complete their education in leading marines in combat. From there, the officers go on for additional specified training at SFMC Specialty Schools in order to gain their certifications.

The Basic School

The Basic School, on Gibraltar Point, Mars, is a 6 month course of instruction for newly commissioned Second Lieutenants, designed to familiarize the officers, through training and instruction, with the various branches of the Marine Corps.
