Locating his father was not difficult and the memory of the first contact with him was an emotion he would never forget. Of course, Jaden was shocked to find out he had a son after all of these years and saddened to hear of Daniel's mother's death. There was no need for a paternity test, one look at the boy and Jaden knew he was his. Finding each other was a life-changing moment for both Daniel and Jaden.
Jaden having grown up without his parents who were Star Fleet Officers killed in the line of duty knew all too well what Daniel was going through. He decided to give up his career in Star Fleet, to be a father, to make up for all the lost years. He and Daniel moved to Jaden's family ranch just outside of New Orleans where Jaden eventually opened up a private medical practice. His life among the stars was over and he now devoted his time to his son, or so his father thought. About a year after Daniel graduated from the Academy, his father, Jaden returned to Star Fleet as First Officer of the USS Copernicus.
Their life catching up and then moving forward was happy and pleasant. Daniel took his mother's maiden name as his middle name and added his father's last name to his. In time Daniel, like his father would feel the yearning to be among the stars and follow in his father's footsteps to join Star Fleet. Although Jaden had mixed emotions he couldn't deny his son the chance to do what he had dreamed of for so long. For the first time in his life, Jaden understood what his grandparents had gone through when he told them that he had planned to follow his parents' footsteps and join Star Fleet. He had to let go and let his son live his own life now; to seek out new adventures, and go where his destiny would lead.
