1927 – Computer scientist John McCarthy is born. Referred to as the "Father of research in Artificial Intelligence", McCarthy coined the term in 1956.
1951 – The first live transcontinental television broadcast takes place in San Francisco, from the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference.
