Simplified Plurals

Simplifed plural chart for most common usages.

Proper Nouns add -su
Nouns ending in -i and -e add -in
Nouns ending in -a, -o or -u add -r
Nouns ending in a consonant add -ir


Nouns

Rihan nouns form their plural based on group and case.

The three cases:
  • Nominative-Accusative (subject and direct object)
  • Genative (possessive)
  • Dative (indirect object)

The four groups:

  • Proper Nouns
  • Group I (Nouns that end in -i or -e)
  • Group II (Nouns that end in -a, -o or -u)
  • Group III (Nouns that end in a Consonant)


Proper Nouns

Case Suffix/Prefix Example: Rihanha, a Romulan
Nom-Acc -su Rihannsu, Romulans
Gen ch' ch'Rihan, the Romulans'
Dat -su'ri Rihannsu'ri, to/for the Romulans
  • If a proper noun ends in an 'n' or an 'm,' the final consonant doubles.
  • If a proper noun ends in -ha or -h'ri, those endings are dropped before adding the suffix.


Nouns that end in -i or -e (Group I Nouns)

Case Suffix Example: saehne, officer
Nom-Acc -in saehnein, officers
Gen -(')en saehne'en, officers'
Dat -vher saehnevher, to/for the officers


Nouns that end in -a, -o or -u (Group II Nouns)

Case Suffix Example: ilnetha, merchant
Nom-Acc -r ilnethar, merchants
Gen -(')en ilnetha'en, merchants'
Dat -vher ilnethavher, to/for the merchants


Nouns that end in a consonant (Group III Nouns)

Case Suffix Example: arahtih, scientist
Nom-Acc -ir arahtihir, scientists
Gen -en arahtihen, scientists'
Dat -evher arahtihevher, to/for the scientists


Adjectives

Adjectives forms plurals in the same manner as do nouns, following case and group.

Examples

  • recendt hiyll, large battle cruiser
  • recendtir hiyllir large battle cruisers
  • nihhs ilnetha short merchant
  • nihhsir ilnethar short merchants
