A protostar is a very young star, in the earliest stage of development.


It gathers mass from its parent molecular cloud, a step that can last hundreds of thousands of years.

At this stage, the interstellar gas undergoes gravitational collapse, as well as nuclear fusion, as the star's core begins to forms.


Protostars are often marked by high levels of magnetascopic interference, which impair sensor function.
