Personal History

Sonia was born into a straightforward, hard-working family. Her two parents felt the need to have \b{a} child but no more then that. Due to this attitude by her parents she often felt like something that was simply a gap filler. The household was strict and she was expected to achieve above and beyond in whatever was put in front of her.

This lead to her 'breaking out' when she finished High School. Though her marks hardly faltered it was simply due to her being smart and not so much effort. In turn she bluffed her way through exams and assignments whilst spending recess being grilled in the principals office for some misdemeanour or another.

In her final year a Lieutenant known as Bracks from Starfleet visited the school as part of a Career Pitch to the students. Sonia was taken by the handsome self-assured officer and he didn't fail to notice her. This lead to a rapid passionate affair. Her parents were concerned and when the situation was broached around the dinner table one night Sonia stormed out. With one backpack filled with random items and no roof over her head, she found herself at Starfleet Academy applying for membership. Crashing at a school mate's place, within day's she learned of her acceptance.

It seemed that everything was falling into place as Starfleet was Sonia's doorway to keeping in contact with her love. However upon hearing of her career move Bracks quickly broke the relationship off, realising how damaging it could be to his career if certain people caught wind of it. Heart broken, without home, family or friends (most alienated due to her all-consuming affair) Sonia turned from the worst student to the most excelling student, throwing herself into her studies. Thanks to her father, who was a lawyer, it quickly became apparent that she had a strong grasp of political economics and cultures. Her ability with words, her inner strength and apparent composure under direct stress and duress pushed her into a fast tracked career as a diplomat.

Upon graduation Sonia travelled from one system to the next negotiating treaties, contracts and truces amongst warring factions. At times her calls and decisions were controversial, she often pushed the envelope in what was 'expected practice' for a Starfleet diplomate but she never backed down.

In her off time she would fly attack fighters for Star Fleet at the Academy. It freed her from the stresses of politics. She quickly reached a point where she had to decide whether to enter active service and take a Command position or resign to a promoted position behind a desk. Sonia felt that she was far to young and inexperienced to sit back and bark orders at those twice her age and thrice her experience.

Her first Command was a small diplomatic vessel mostly docked at Starbase Bravo. When the opportunity came up to join a Flotilla under the banner of the USS Titan Sonia pulled 'heaven and earth' to change assignments as she was itching to break free from diplomacy and see the front lines.

Pets: Alaskan Husky, Nikolai (Nik for short) – panda colouring and sharp blue eyes the large dog will usually run with her down the small halls of her ship. Highly trained since puppy hood the dog is completely loyal to Sonia and follows commands without hesitation. It took a lot of strings to allow Sonia bring the large dog on board with her.
Friends: Sonia has always been a loner and doesn’t have any close friends. This does not bother her in the slightest, completely content in her own space. Nik is her sole confident.
