Captain's Logs

Rear Admiral Kinziri Jal

Stardate 21901.03

Captain's log. USS Sheridan. Stardate 21901.03. Rear Admiral Kinziri Jal recording.

In what was a simple run out to fetch supplies for the new station at Pioneer Outpost, I took command of the Sheridan to blow away some of the cobwebs that had built up during my previous role in administration on Starbase Alpha. If I was to become Field Commander of this Expeditionary Fleet then I felt I needed recent experience in the field, or that was how I justified it at least.

I found that much of the command structure of the Sheridan was already established, with nearly all of the department heads familiar with each other and with their First Officer, Commander Boislevesque. This was ideal for me, as they already knew how to work together.

The ship departed from Pioneer and made good speed to the rendezvous with the third-party supply ship. Along the way we picked up an anomalous reading of high level of warp traffic in what was supposed to be a pre-warp system. I ordered a detour to check it out.

In orbit of the unnamed planet sensors picked up evidence that a ship had indeed been in and out of the system and to the planet many times. There was also evidence of technology on the surface, yet the humanoid population of the planet were at an early stage of development equivalent to Earth's 'Bronze Age'.

I ordered a thorough investigation of the warp signatures and search for whatever ship had made them, leaving Commander Boislevesque in command of the ship while I chose to lead an Away Team down to the surface to investigate whether there had been any breach of the Prime Directive by person or persons unknown.

Naturally the Away Team needed to fit in, so myself and the relevant officers underwent cosmetic alterations conducted by Doctor Brook's second, Doctor Hurst. Brooks must have found this experience odd, as he was on the team and altered just as I and the others were. Personally I quite enjoyed taking on the appearance and character of someone else. Knowing what was to come later, I now find this quite ironic.

Beaming down to the surface we found most of the planet covered by desert. We began triangulating the signal of the technology and a former area of habitation that sensor scans implied had become ruined only very recently. Avoiding contact with the natives - even though we were disguised - we found not only that the damage to the place could not have been done by the native people, but found a Brikar there who had been posing as the local deity, 'Phezus', for some time, getting the local people to give up precious metal and ore which he and his accomplices beamed up to their ship and took away to sell.

I made it very clear that I as representative of Star Fleet and the United Federation of Planets - of which Brikar is a member - would not stand for such exploitation of the native population. Under threat of arrest or be fired upon by security officers S'hiarra and Baker, he caved in quite quickly. He admitted that they had a hidden shuttle and cache of precious metal and ore hidden in a cave, and I had engineer Ballantyne and science officer Willard locate and confirm this later.

Meanwhile on the ship, Commander Boislevesque and the Bridge officers had extracted a piece of technology from the surface and with the help of Chief Engineer Archen and science officer Lieutenant Feta tried to determine the purpose of the device. The ship also detected the Brikar craft and challenged their presence too.

Between apprehending the one on the surface, and ordering the accomplices on the ship to surrender, we were able to clear the mess up quite simply. I allowed the Brikar to take their ill-gotten gains with them this time, but warned them that if any Starfleet patrol or other ship found them up to this kind of nonsense again, then they would be taking a long trip back to Brikar where I understand the punishments can be quite 'heavy' if you'll excuse the pun.

Once we had left a buoy in the system informing any starfaring people to leave the natives alone to develop at their natural rate without interference, I ordered the Sheridan return to the supply pick up point.

Commander Boislevesque performed his duty very well in my absence, coordinating the departments and crew, and conducting himself in the face of the opposition appropriate to an officer of Star Fleet. I have noted in his record that he should receive a Star Fleet Achievement Medal upon our return to Pioneer Outpost.

The rest of the supply pick up went smoothly, and the Sheridan has now docked back at Pioneer.

First Officer Commander Harrison Boislevesque reporting

After we docked at StarBase Bravo following our last mission things have changed massively and for the better, Commander Zan was unfortunately too badly injured on the last mission that she was ordered on Medical leave to recuperate which for a while left me in Command of the Sheridan, there was also no indication for a long time about a replacement for her, this was sorted out when I received a communiqué from our new outpost that was based in the Dozaria system, called Pioneer Outpost.

The message was from Rear Admiral Kinziri Jal who was the Expedition Commander and she informed me that I was to depart from Bravo and make best speed to Pioneer and that the USS Sheridan was to become the Flag Ship of the fleet and that she was taking over command.

It was nice to finally find out who was being our new Commanding officer, but being that she was a Rear Admiral it seemed surprising that a Sun-Tzu Class Destroyer was being chosen for that role as it was normally something like an Avenger Class Heavy Cruiser or a Einstein Class Galactic Science Cruiser as they were more suitable for that role.

It took us a little while to arrive at Pioneer Outpost as the Dozaria system was located beyond Cardassian Space, while we were docked the ship finished off the upgrades that had been ordered and I was able to greet the Rear Admiral who was waiting for us at the airlock.

My first impression was that she was a nice looking woman who had made her way up through the ranks and had been out there in the think of things and knew what it was likely to be, this was something of a refreshing change as I have meet Captain’s and those higher up the chain of command that had managed to get to their respective roles without being out there fighting and making those live and death decisions that come with this job.

For the meeting of the Rear Admiral I had ordered that all Department Heads join me in at the airlock, so that there was a good welcoming committee for our new Commanding officer, however we were also joined by Security Officer S’hiarra to my surprise. It wasn’t an issue that she was there being that there was a history between herself and the Admiral, but I might need in the future to remind the Department Heads to check first before being anyone who wasn’t on the listings.

Now as for the current mission that we are on we were ordered to do a supply run for Pioneer Outpost, it was also designed for us to make sure that all our upgrades and repairs had been fitted correctly and would work well under pressure, it didn’t really feel like the best first assignment for the Flag ship, but it was better than sitting in dock twiddling out thumbs waiting for something to happen.

As I should have expected missions are never simple and organised and this one defiantly fits into that category, we have come across a planet that it’s inhabitants were in what we might call the stone age period of development or at least around that time. There also seemed to be loads of warp traffic around the planet and it was hard to believe that there hadn’t been any planetary or cultural interference from another culture and after more checking we found that there had been some destruction in a village that was probably more than meets the eye as the damage seemed to have been done from above them. After a longish conversation on the bridge on how to proceed, the Admiral order an away team to beam down to the planet for more investigation and that she was going to lead it, this was something that I completely disageed with being that she is the Expedition Commander and she was running the whole affair out here and if anything happens to her then it wouldn’t be just her head on the block, there was a high chance his would be right along side hers.

I will complete another log once we find out more

First Officer Commander Harrison Boislevesque reporting

I'm dictating this report from the comfort of my office as we are very close to docking at Pioneer Outpost and it's been the only time that I have been able to do my personal log to document the mission.

After we beamed the away team to the surface we set about trying to find out as much information as we could on what was happening around here as there was no definite answers, we were instructed to beam up some kind of new piece of tech that the away team found and we got our science and engineering departments to look into what it was and what it was doing on this planet. We had some interesting news about the devise from Lt Feta in science and that was that the device was made up from material from from Human, Briktar and Gorn. So that made it possible that one of those races were the one responsible for whatever had happened.

There was one thing that did bug me at the start was the amount of warp trails that were around the planet, as one of them had to lead us somewhere and there was the matter of a village that looked like it had been destroyed from an orbital, so something was happening around here.

Everything that we were gathering in information seemed to be settling or working around the destroyed village which I started to wonder if it had been destroyed not because of anything important or major but because who ever might be or was behind this needed somewhere to from without being noticed or disturbed.

While we were searching for more info that was a new signal that came in and was picked up by the officer manning the tactical station and it was coming from the other side of the planet and after refining and sorting out the signal to get more detail it seemed that it was coming from a ship that was hiding behind the planet. With communications opened it seemed like our presence here wasn't welcomed, the only good thing was that they knew about who StarFleet was, so that meant I didn't need to explain who we were or what we were doing there...well not in the finer details anyway.

Following communication with the away team and especially the Admiral it seemed that they had come across an individual that didn't belong on the planet either and they belonged to the species that were in control of the ship, it also seemed that this individual had been communicating with the ship as we then get a message from them that they would stand down and surrender. This was a strange turn of events as the way things were I was so close to ordering the ship into battle and trying to take out their weapons so that they were no threat to anyone.

This was the first mission that I can remember being on that there was no combat what so ever, which I am still trying to compute in my head.

We should be docking at Pioneer Outpost in a few hours, so I think I should return to the bridge and be there when we arrive and then I can issue the order that send everyone on shore leave. I have heard that there is some kind of Christmas Party happening on the outpost that every single person from every single ship is invited to which will be good as it'll give everyone a chance to meet up old friends or meet new ones.

Security

Lieutenant Commander Thurock Sothrick

Stardate 21810.12

Star Date: 21810.12

Chief Of Security Log: Lieutenant Commander Sothrick

Mission is underway, in sorts I suppose. The Sheridan is now under command of an Admiralm Admiral Jal. Personally known to S'hiarra and was apart of her, recovery.

The Sheridan is also for the moment, the flag ship for the new fleet. That is yet another change. The Sheridan, Ghettysburg, Intrepid, Copernicus and the Ozaki have all been reassigned to the new Pioneer outpost as a new 'Expeditionary Group' to Star Fleet and the Federation. Now our mission is supposed to be easy one of retrieving supplies for the station.

Of course when has missions ever been as easy as they were supposed to. Currently we are tracking strange signals and possible ships in an area they don't belong. More updates when we arrive at the targeted planet.

We have also received a number of new personnel however as I have been on the Sheridan the longest they all feel new to me. S'hiarra is doing well in her role working with me however she has currently taken on the role of ships tour guide with a few of the new personnel.

On a personal note.

My meeting with my father was... more than eventful and oddly very informative. He also brought an interesting person with him who I have to note caught everyones interest. S'hiarra and I's formal was wedding was postponed and our shore leave, as my father predicted, was cut short for our transfer to the new base.

S'hiarra and I have not had much time to be alone since getting back but I hope to change that tonight.

I must return to duties more after we find what it is we are looking for.

Mission Three is under way and a trip to the new pionner station located near the Dozaria system.

I've just been promoted to Lt junor grade, to be honest, I don't know how I feel about that, first there's more paper work and now people now thing I know what I'm doing.

(Raven scrached the bridge of her nose and gave a big sigh before she continued)

oh well as the saying goes “no rest for the wicked”
