Medals—privileged adornments of distinction among ranks, commemorations of unforgettable events, rewards for significant achievements. Yes, medals are awesome!

Federation Space players—and their characters—may earn medals as they distinguish themselves through credible participation in a specific set of circumstances or fulfil specific requirements to a degree above and beyond expectations. While there is often a very thin line between earnings of players and earnings of their characters, generally, players may earn out of context achievement medals and campaign medals, and characters may earn in context service medals.

The following tables illustrate the significance of each medal:

Service Medals

United Federation of Planets—Star Fleet

Grph-med-sfag.jpg Star Fleet Academy Graduate Ribbon – Star Fleet Academy awards the SFAG to all naval-space cadets successfully completing their training at the Academy, thus becoming graduated Star Fleet personnel. The SFAG has no point value.
Grph-med-sfae.jpg Star Fleet Academy Equivalency Certificate – Star Fleet Academy issues the SFAC to all eligible naval-space applicants, such as professional non-graduate or foreign officers, successfully completing their training at the Academy, thus becoming certified Star Fleet personnel. Achievement Medals

The following achievement and service medals are universal and out of context; that is, all eligible players may earn them:

For each anniversary, successive Roman numerals commemorate an increase in the number of continuous years of membership. Players who retire risk losing their accumulated longevity, or seniority. The LM has no point value.
Grph-med-rpgofm.jpg Role Player of the Month and Co-Role Player of the Month – Commanding officers may award the RPOTM or CPOTM, perhaps at the recommendation of their department heads and fellow crewmembers, to players whom they wish to recognize for excellent role-playing. The RPOTM and CPOTM have a value of 500 points.
Grph-med-rct.jpg Recruiter Medallion – Players may claim the RM, which rewards their successful and much appreciated recruitment efforts, for recruited players whose characters have graduated Star Fleet Academy and successfully achieved the rank of Ensign or higher. The RM has a value of 500 points.
Grph-med-ssp.jpg Short Story Participant – Players may claim the SSP, which rewards their eligible submissions to an official Federation Space short story contest, upon achieving the specified acceptance criterion. The SSP has a variable point value.

Grph-med-yaw.jpg Annual Citation of Excellence – Eligible players may claim the ACOE, which rewards their winning conduct over the course of a year, in the following categories: Commanding Officer of the Year, First Officer of the Year, Department Head of the Year, Junior Officer of the Year, Player Character of the Year, Non-Player Character of the Year, Most Improved Writer of the Year, Writer of the Year, Sub-Plot of the Year, Game Moderator of the Year, and Academy Instructor of the Year. The ACOE and each of its category awards have no point value.
Grph-med-pm.jpg President’s Medal – The President may award the PM, perhaps at the recommendation of his fellow administration members, to players whom he wishes to recognize for outstanding leadership and/or distinguished contributions to the Federation Space community. The PM has no point value.
Grph-med-eng.jpg The Zefram Cochrane Award – The Star Fleet Chief of Engineers, or higher ranked personnel, may grant TheZCA to players who make distinguished contributions to the Federation Space community, especially in the field of engineering. TheZCA has a variable point value.
