Organization and Government

Based on information obtained the Krynar Confederation appear to be a loose alliance of worlds, not dissimilar to the United Federation of Planets. However, planets do not ‘join’ as they do the Federation. They are ‘enlightened’ en masse by what is believed to be Krynar technology and/or telepathy. Once ‘enlightened’, the planet becomes part of the Krynar Confederation. Tellar underwent "enlightenment" and is now part of the Krynar Confederation.

The Voorik Congregation seems to be the ruling class and council, composed of representatives of the senior member worlds. Little is known about the Congregation other than that the Tellarites have referred to having representation in the Congregation. The exploration/military arm of the Confederation seems to be referred to as the Krynar Inquisition.

Physical Beings

The Krynar Confederation is made up of various species and beings, much like the UFoP and other empires. Thus far, the only ‘native’ members of the Krynar that have been encountered yielded very little information.

Krynar (as the beings have been called thus far) always appear in very bulky encounter suits. These suits are heavily armored, especially against energy discharges and energy weapons, and appear to maintain an internal environment different than standard norms that we are used to. Thus far we have yet to successfully capture a live member of the species to properly interrogate or analyze, so the information on their physical make-up is somewhat vague.

Research on dead subjects has been equally unproductive. Each time a suit has been opened, the self-destruct has engaged and incinerated the suit and its occupant.

The following represents what we do know about the species:

-2.25 to 3+ meters in length, very bulky body, mostly horizontal but bends in middle (centaur-like).

-Mass of several hundred kilograms, ranging from 800-1100 estimated.

-Exoskeletal/chitin appearance, but this, as far as we know, is an encounter suit. We are not sure if it is actually part of their body, but it definitely is integrated into the host being. | There are indications that the suits combine biological and technological aspects.

-They have 6 limbs, all of which are multipurpose. Witness accounts include seeing the beings on 2 legs, standing 3+ meters tall with the upper 2 limbs used as ‘arms’ would; on four legs bent at the middle and using 4 ‘arms’; and on six legs moving very rapidly and with extremely high agility. The end of each limb seems to end in a multipurpose pod that can grasp items or flatten out to be used like feet.

-We have yet to see what the ‘head’ of a Krynar looks like, but their helmeted suits are domed (with a dark dome) and indications based on reports are that they may have 360-degree vision or at least sensory ability that mimics vision. There is some indication that the Krynar may be near-sighted, as those who have encountered report poor aim at range.

-Krynar have a very high ability to heal and adapt to their environment and attacks upon them. This may be natural, technological, or a combination of both.

-They appear to carry two small globular objects. These objects can be held and directed at potential opponents. The devices seem to act as a tricorder-like device, a weapon (utilizing gravitic pulses and beams), and a shielding device (again using a gravitic bubble), as well as have the ability to telepathically affect those encountered, to try to ‘enlighten’ them.

History

Unknown, although there are rumors amongst the Gorn and some Klingons that these creatures visited before, as much as 1,000 years ago. None of these rumors have been validated. Star Fleet Intelligence contacted both the Gorn and Klingon intelligence services and both flatly denied any relationship to these creatures and the Hur’Q that the Klingons have in their mythology.

Military

Krynar appear to have only two classes of ships and, as far as we can tell, every vessel of a class is identical in every way to every other vessel. We have not yet found a method of telling individual vessels apart from one-another.

Motherships

Krynar motherships (commonly referred to by Star Fleet personnal as ‘donuts’) are large ring-shaped vessels. The following is a description of the vessel from an encounter:

"Laterally it was round, almost like a donut, but with sharper edges, with a large round opening in the middle where the gravimetric distortions were huge. Interference was so great in this area that clear readings of the large vessel could not be determined, other than its basic size.

The diameter of the disc was 13 kilometers, and the center hole area was 7 kilometers in diameter, leaving a ring 3-kilometers wide, and 5 kilometers thick. The ring wasn't quite rounded, as it had several structures or bits of equipment along it, but there were a few large slots in it which appeared to be launch bays of some sort. This was confirmed a few seconds later a another 300 shards shot out of it. The ring was spinning slowly, making one full revolution every 39 seconds."

As far as we can tell, each mothership has between 80,000 and 250,000 ‘shard’ fighters aboard, which can be deployed for scouting, attack on targets, or can swarm around the mothership offering a nearly impenetrable shield of interference for weapons, approaching vessels, and even scans.

It is estimated that a single mothership may have up to 500,000 Krynar aboard.

We have seen motherships use a gravitic pulse to ‘shove’ an object, and a very powerful gravitic ‘beam’ to slice through or destroy objects. It is believed that Bajor and SBC were destroyed using the gravitic beam. It is what was used to destroy Sierra-18.

These ships also can build up a gravitic wave around them, which is used to ‘shove’ anything within 1,000 kilometers away. This seems to be the sole defense that the mothership has, apart from fighter craft.

Krynar Fighters (“Shards”)

Based on current information, these are the specifications of the Krynar fighters:

-16m long, 3m tall, 4m wide at the aft, sharp nosed.

-Crew readings range from 2-6, and scans have been indistinct. One captured fighter was believed to contain three individual lifeforms, although only one was physically witnessed.

-Shards have a gravitic sublight drive, and use a gravity acceleration to generate something similar to a warp field. They can travel at warp 9 comfortably, and max out at warp 9.6. They do not have the ability to fold-space or ‘jump’ from one location to another alone, but when formed into a star formation may summon, via a gravitic rift technology, a mothership.

-They have no shields, but have decent physical armor. Still a single direct phaser hit or torpedo will almost always destroy them, as if they are disabled their self-destruct is initiated to annihilate the vessel and occupants completely and immediately.

-Their single weapon is a forward-facing gravitic pulse which will easily pass through shields and has the effect equivalent of the target having been ‘poked’ with a very solid object with a lot of mass and velocity. There is limited ability to shape the pulse, so it may be a sharp poke that penetrates, or a blunt one that slams the target.

-They can, after a full scan, assume the physical properties of a target by forming together to activate their doppleganger effect. They also create two forms which are of Krynar origin: 1, the star, which is used to summon a mothership; 2,a very sleek landing craft which is used to send to a planet in the process of enlightenment. This craft will carry a delegation of Krynar, and has unique and unknown capabilities to help enlighten the populace.

The capability of these ships to merge and take other forms should not be discounted. Thus far we are unable to, via scans, detect whether a ship is ‘real’ or a doppleganger. At the battle for Sierra-18, the USS Enterprise, CV-07, appeared nearby only to attack friendly forces. This was when it was realized that it was not Enterprise, as rather than using standard weapons it used gravitic weapons.

Core Technology

All power generating, propulsion, and weapons technologies witnessed have been gravitic in nature. Star Fleet shielding and other defenses are not suited to defending against gravity-beam attacks. Commanders are encouraged to remember this when encountering Krynar vessels.

FTL propulsion on the motherships appears to function via a gravity ‘hole’ or the folded-space concept, not unlike a wormhole. It appears to take nearly a fully minute to form the hole and go through it, however at the receiving location there is no indication of travel until the mothership appears.

Krynar Homeworld/System

Nothing is known about the origin of the Krynar, nor their natural environment. They have successfully attacked the Alpha and Gamma Quadrants, and because of their propulsion technology we cannot determine their travel patterns. It is theorized that they may come from somewhere on the far side of the Milky Way galaxy, perhaps the farthest rim along the border of the Gamma and Delta quadrants.

There are also theories that they come from the galactic core.
