| History= John was born on July 4th, 2126, to an American father and an Irish mother. John was the first of three children, and grew up in a small town in the woods. As a child, he grew up as woodsman, though with a love of history, passed on by his mother. As the eldest child of the family, he was responsible for leading his younger siblings into all manner of childish trouble.

It came as no surprise to his family when he enlisted in the military at age eighteen, becoming a MACO. Serving in a peace-time military, however, was not as exciting as John had imagined, and so he volunteered for every training program he could accepted into. In 2149, he promoted to Corporal. Later that year, he was involved in a training accident that resulted in the death of two of his squad mates. He was deemed to be partially responsible for the incident, and his advancement came to a halt.

Despite this, in 2153, due to his extensive training, he was selected to serve aboard the Enterprise, NX-01 during the ship's mission to seek and destroy the Xindi super-weapon. Along with rest of the MACO detachment, John was able to add actual combat experience to service record. In 2154, when the Enterprise returned to Earth after successfully completing her mission, John was promoted to Sergeant and reassigned. He spent the rest of 2145 training new drill instructors, before being assigned as a drill instructor. He trained new MACOs for the difficulties of starship service for the next year and half.

In 2156, John was once more reassigned, this time to the MACO detachment of the newly launched SHIP, NX-0X.

| Majors= Infantry Training, Space Assault Operations
| Minors= Sniper Training, Survival Training
| Hobbies= Hunting, fishing, reading, golfing...on the driving range. And riding vintage motorcycles
| Short= To get back into space and defend against the threats to Earth
| Long= To become an officer and command his own MACO detachment
| Personality= Adventurous. He's also laid back and easy going, but he knows how to work hard and get the job done when he needs to.
| Humor= Usually sarcastic, though sometimes dry and witty
| Phobias= People with an unblinking stare, they just creep him out. And transporters.
| Likes= A good book, a quite patch of wilderness, and good beer.
| Dislikes= Leaving fallen or captured comrades behind, cowardice, people who do not respect veterans and soldiers, politicians
| Peeves= Arrogant officers
| Habits= John sometimes speaks when he should just shut up.
| Achievements= His promotion to Sergeant, and his assignment to both the Enterprise and the SHIP.
| Disappointments= Being reassigned from the Enterprise, and missing out on all their later adventures. The loss of life on the Xindi mission. And his golf game.
| Illnesses= Nothing out of the ordinary
| Strengths= He's a good soldier under fire, and knows how to motivate subordinates to perform at their best. He's also a great golfer...at the driving range.
| Weaknesses= John is a bit reckless. He also has a tendency to question orders he believes to be wrong, and tends to find creative ways to what he believes to be right or best, without technically breaking orders. Off the driving range...he's a terrible golfer.
| Fears= Being forced to leave a man behind.
| Prejudices= He doesn't like Vulcans, as they are far too serious for his liking
| Taste= Dark colors, favoring t-shirts, comfortable pants, leather jackets, and boots
| Features= None, John his rather nondescript
| Pets= Outlaw, a Siberian Husky, kept at his parent's home.
| Friends= Lily O'Bannon, his cousin, who manages the O'Bannon family ranch outside Missoula, Montana.
| Parents= Alive and well, living in Spirit Lake. Robert is a retired construction worker and city planner, and spends his days fishing and hunting; Saoirse is a historian, serving as a part-time professor at the University of Idaho, and spends her off-time gardening and writing submissions to historical journals.

| Painful= The first time he discovered his mother's Irish temper, which coincided with his discovery that experiments involving gunpowder were best done outside, and was followed by his backside first making the acquaintance of his father's belt.
| Time= Visits to his cousin Lily's ranch in Montana, and the adventures (or trouble, as their parents would say) they'd get themselves into.
| Crucial= The Xindi attack on Earth and his subsequent assignment to the Enterprise. Both events took his all his training, which up until that point had been exercises in theory, and made it all real.
| Role Model= His father, who taught him how to work hard, and how to enjoy life.
