Light Freighter "Renegade"
History
First commissioned in the 2330s as a Condor-class Courier vessel, the Renegade was many of such vessels acquired by the Maquis to aid in their fight against the Cardassian Union in the Demilitarized Zone. Armed with upgraded weapons and a crew of between 10 and 20, the Renegade served on the front line against Cardassian Paramilitaries and regular military alike.
At some point following the Dominion War, the Renegade was damaged and left to rot on a scrap heap. In early 2412 it was purchased by then-Captain Paul Braggins for the purpose of undertaking a covert reconnaissance mission in unaligned space. Initial repairs were patchwork at best and failed more than once under operating conditions, but the rugged old courier saw the mission through.
The Renegade saw use elsewhere later on in its career, rescuing then-Commodore Braggins from the terrorist stronghold on Muro IX. Still not fully restored, the weapons system failed to engage properly, though the mission was still a success.
As of late 2419, the Renegade is still owned by the Braggins family and is often used to ferry now-Admiral Braggins around when his usual flagship would draw unwanted attention. Despite constant systems upgrades, the Renegade is still a temperamental vessel and prone to breakdowns, though Braggins insists this simply gives the ship 'character'.
