A laser pulse system was a modification that allows a laser beam to be fired through a starship's weapons array. This modification to a starship's weapons system allowed for simulated phaser and photon torpedo operation and performance, but with no potential for actual damage. The system was used to record hits in Star Fleet battle simulations without risking damage to the ships involved.
