Keiko O'Brien (née Ishikawa) was a 24th century civilian botanist aboard the USS Enterprise-D and on Bajor, as well as the primary school teacher aboard the starbase Deep Space 9. She was a native of Japan, Earth, and married then-Transporter Chief of the Enterprise-D, Miles O'Brien on Stardate 44390.1. Their wedding incorporated both Irish and Japanese traditions. Together, they had two children, Molly and Kirayoshi. She was an avid fan of music and fashion, and was the head of the Plant Biology Lab aboard the Enterprise-D. When the family was transferred to Deep Space 9, she became a schoolteacher for the base. Keiko left Deep Space 9 to live permanently on Earth in 2375.
