The gravity switch is a type of detonator used on some explosive devices.
The idea is that the switch would activate when someone attempted to transport the bomb, causing it to explode in the transporter's matter stream.
Example:
Gravity switches were built into the bombs that exploded in the United Earth Embassy on Vulcan in 2154.
