1924 - The Royal Greenwich Observatory begins broadcasting the hourly time signals known as the Greenwich Time Signal.
1971 - Astronauts land on the Moon in the Apollo 14 mission.
- Captain Shepard became the first person to hit a golf ball on the moon.
- Several hundred seeds were taken on the mission, many of which were germinated on return, resulting in the so-called "Moon trees."
