Duonetic field

A duonetic field, while a form of energy itself, is a field that inhibits energy flow. It is also capable of disabling virtually all 24th century Federation technology in a large area.

It can be caused naturally by the presence of the element astatine, or artificially created by a small generator.

This type of negation field can be technically referred to as a "rapidly fluctuating electromagnetic field pulse", as the duonetic particles continue to pulse in order to keep the field operational.
