The chambers coil is a component found in a subspace communications system.
In order for a communications system to get a stronger signal, the system needs to be switched to a higher-carrier frequency, which can be accomplished by resetting the actuators in the chambers coil.
- An actuator is a component of a machine that is responsible for moving and controlling a mechanism or system, for example by opening a valve.
In simple terms, it is a "mover". An actuator requires a control signal and a source of energy.
The chambers coil can overload the comm system, which is something detectable by other ships.
