Personal History
The Ferengi hold that females don't have the lobes for business. If that's the case then Ms. Kara Alexander is an exception to that rule. The thirty eight year old is basically a good person at heart but Kara is Mercenary and Trader for hire who always has her eye on a profit. The five-foot-four, slim, brown haired, green eyed beauty isn't afraid to use her innocent face and feminine ways to get her occasionally less than legal cargo past an unsuspecting security officer or customs official. Kara is bright, loves a good laugh and a good drink. She would have made an interesting Star Fleet Officer but not being her own boss never appealed much.
Knowing how to use her looks or a good sense of humor doesn't always get her by though so over the years Kara has become more than able pilot and marksman both with a sidearm and with her little freighter's, (a converted old style Oberth Class Starship), unusually high powered disruptor array. Although the Indefatigable, or Indie for short isn't a match for a warship, she is more than capable or keeping raiders, general patrol craft, or other civilian ships at bay. With 80% of the ship converted to holding tanks and storage bays with the exception of a few living areas a necessary spaces like Engineering and Sickbay, the Indie can carry enough goods to make almost any run a profitable one.
The Indie's fifteen man crew, an amalgam or men and women Kara has picked up over her twenty year career, are the closest thing to family she has. They all watch out for one another and they all watch out for Kara and these days loyalty like that doesn't come easily, and the cost is usually paid in blood. In the past ten years since Kara bought the Indie from a Ferengi salvage yard the little ship has run aid and supplies and sometimes even guns in all of the wars the Federation has been caught up in and it's crew have all fought and bled and worked to build this camaraderie.
As eluded to before though, not all the cargo Kara runs is exactly legal although there are lines she won't cross. Though as a Mercenary and Trader for hire, sometimes the lines can become blurred.
