The Ahn-woon is a ancient and traditional Vulcan weapon used in ritualistic ceremonies, such as the kal-if-fee - a fight for two males to challenge the right to mate with a given female.
The weapon consists of a strap of leather, approximately just over a metre long, with a metal ball at each end. It is similar to several human weapons such as the bolas, the slingshot, and the garotte.
Its usage is largely to stun or asphyxiate its target by entangling or striking with its weighted ends.
It has been described as one of the oldest Vulcan weapons, although its exact historical appearance is unknown.
