A Weapon Systems Officer or "WSO" is a tactical position directly involved in all weapon systems of a starship in Star Fleet.
WSOs are trained in navigation, the use of the electromagnetic spectrum, and weapon system employment. Their responsibilities include tactical planning, weapon coordination, threat reactions, and hazard avoidance.
