The VolkAstrum homeworld from Orbit, AeriaNidus

The VolkAstrum, of the Gamma Quadrant, are a humanoid species externally but have extensively differing anatomy than most species. Both male and female counterparts of the species look similar being broad and muscular as well as feminine. Volkerrians have vibrant hair and eye colour promoting shades of greys, red, brown, and navy blues to name a few. VolkAstrum are not only easily recognizable by this but also their equally vibrant eyes, and elongated-pointed ears.

Volkerrians are a physically weak, yet long-lived race. They are a extremely spiritual people who are also pride themselves at being both logical and emotional. Because of their physiology, most VolkAstrum who leave the planet tend to bring some form of physical protection with them.

For the majority, reaching and exploring space is a normality.

Physiology

VolkAstrum internal biology is an oddity in evolution. Unlike most species, VolkAstrum possess very few organs including: bones, an esophagus, few nerves, and their own special mineral conversion organ situated at the end of the esophagus, as well as what is known as the Ze’riall (see reproduction). VolkAstrum have of course more similar organs to universal normality: tongue, eyes, skin, muscles, and reproductive organs.

Austerian main organ processes are located within their cells. Everything from breathing, to heartbeats, to neurological signals are created in these cells. Significant cellular damage to an arm or leg could cause paralysis throughout one's body. circularular-helix-DNA, RNA, proteins and several other items travel between cells much faster than in other species due to their unique biology. Volkerrian cells resemble Eukaryotic organisms (plants), with more rigid cells in a dodecahedron shape. As such they are much more resistant to disease or sickness. Additionally because they do not intake gases directly they can breath on planets with: nitrogen, argon, xenon, oxygen, bromine, and some carbon.

Because of the lack of organs the VolkAstrum have a more advanced bone structure. For instance arm and leg bones have three main bones twisted together in one direction with a very small hollow centre where a nerve passes through. Volkerrians also have two more ribs. The last two ribs then connect to longer twisted bones that form an ‘X’ through the Volkerrian’s chest connecting the pelvic bone to the rib cage. Their spine is also twice as thick as a human’s, however the very centre of the spine is moveable (see reproduction). Because of their homeworlds gravity (three-point two times that of Earth) their bones had developed with fewer spaces in between each bone. However, because their cells operate their entire body bone growth is slow; in such their bones heal slower, and are somewhat weaker than human bones.

However, due to the lack of organs, VolkAstrum never developed cortical bone thus making them more brittle to impact. In contrast, they have advanced Osteoblast cells allowing for extremely fast bone repair.

Volkerrian blood is Vanadium based with Vs’an metal base transport system (in contrast to the Human hemoglobin base transport). This make the colour of blood inside of Volkerrians grey, when oxidized it turns clear and is vaguely similar to the lens of a magnifying glass. When dried however the blood is a violet purple. Bruises take on a blue colour.

Astruian body temperature rests at 21 degrees celsius, and 70 degrees fahrenheit. Since they do not require organs to function, VolkAstrum’s body temperature can reach a maximum of 42 degrees celsius, or 108 degrees fahrenheit.

Astruian base skin colour is the same range as humans, however all Volkerrians poses a natural tint to their skin which can literally be any colour of the spectrum. Their blood transport system is responsible for this.

They have advanced senses due to evolution on their home planet. For instance they have a very sensitive sense of smell, similar to Vulcans. However their sense of smell is more aptly tuned for toxins instead of foods. They also have an extreme sense of taste due to the many toxic plants on their homeworld. Volkerrians hear over a larger range of frequencies than most species--excluding the Borg. Because their cells act as a large majority of their nerves, feeling is extremely sensitive, and Volkerrian skin is relatively weaker than humans due to this.

Volkerrians have two types of sight; they see on a higher scale than just 7,000,000 colours due to the climate of AeriaNidus, however also due to the planet's geographical features they have learned how to use their telepathy to see. A VolkAstrum’s cornea is partially opaque with mirror-like reflective qualities. In response, the pupil does not need to expand or contract in response to light levels. Tapetum lucidum are also present in the rear of the VolkAstrum’s eye, causing a slight reflection when light is shone directly upon the eye. VolkAstrum lack any posterior or anterior liquid chambers in the eye.

Age Breakdown
Infant 0 - 34 months
Toddlers 34 months - 4 years
Child 4 - 45 years
Adolescent 46 - 80 years
Young Adult 81-190 years
Adult 191-279
Veteran 280-380 years

Children are ranged from the age of four to forty-five years, although Astruian’s are fully grown at twenty-eight.

Immune System, and Environmental Suits

Because of AeriaNidus’ lack of insects pollination VolkAstrum immune systems are more susceptible to absorb sickness, not contract it. Their cells have evolved to block out major disease and major sickness, as well as completely assimilate sickness and disease. The Environmental Suits use minor AI systems to assist in daily operations. In majority, the Environmental Units (EVU) are mainly used to protect the body from damage.

Because of AeriaNidus’ lack of insects pollination VolkAstrum immune systems are more susceptible to sickness. Their cells have evolved to block out major disease and major sickness--but this has made them react violently to sickness such as the cold. Because of the suits AI, adapting can take a wide range of time from several weeks to a few days. Environmental Suits use minor AI systems to assist in daily operations. In majority, the Environmental Variation Units (EVU) are mainly used to protect the body from damage.

When leaving UUIN vessels or space, VolkAstrum undergo a battery of medical tests and procedures (vaccinations) to prepare them for various diseases commonly found throughout areas of the Galaxy. This would prevent them from getting sick just by being on the bridge, but would leave in a weakness of advanced risk of sickness when exploring new planets, or interacting with new species.

Reproduction

VolkAstrum are highly adaptive when it comes to inter-species adaptability.

Both male and female Volkerrians poses the normal sexual organs, however they are used solely as forms of pleasure instead of exchanging genetic material. Material is exchanged through touch, and can take hours for full genetic exchange.

Both Males and Females may get pregnant and with either gender. Ze’riall is the Viyas word for “Life Bearer”. It is a very large cell (twice the size of a human female egg) but matches the same shape as a normal Volkerrian cell. The cell does not contain any form of protein builder or organelle for exchange. The Ze’riall depends on other cells to assist it until it becomes large enough to sustain itself. There are four stages to Volkerrian pregnancy. Stage one is the actual conception of the cell, DNA and RNA are allocated to the cell where it performs a routine similar to mitosis: this last two months. Stage two is where the cell absorbs smaller cells and feeds off of them, during which the shell and internal anatomy of the embryo are formed: this usually takes three months. Stage Three is where the Ze’riall begins to work off of its own power, while still taking basic nutrients from the parent’s cell it no longer absorbs the parent cells entirely: this stage takes only a month. The last stage is where the Ze’riall embryo moves to the mid section of the parent Volkerrian’s back. The embryo then forms a hard outer layer, and the placenta attaches itself to the movable part of the Volkerrian’s spine. This alone takes a month.

When giving birth the Volkerrian’s spine will actually open, ripping the skin apart and revealing a pocket. The embryo could then be removed from the pocket free of any support from the parent. Once the child is removed, the Volkerrian’s Ze’riall will recognize it and close the spine. The placenta then returns to its original location in the mid stomach, and takes at the very least a month to reform before another child can be conceived.

Death and Rebirth:

Even to this day Death is considered a new concept to the VolkAstrum. An Astruian’s physical body may die, but they seem to be able to live on in another body. This is the most connected reason to the VolkAstrums deep connection to religion. Only the same spirit can view memories, as well as recall the feelings. While others may be able to view the same memories, they will not be able to receive as many nor would they be able to feel them. As such the only Full Death can be caused by Maximum Tranquility.

Telepathy:

Notably the most important thing to a VolkAstrum, telepathy is a major part of their life.

One form of telepathy is empathy. The standard. They can sense emotions as well as thoughts, and project emotions and thoughts to others as well. Volkerrian empathy however is highly advanced and can even see what their bond mate is seeing (see Ciri’elh’Ori). VolkAstrum can separately communicate via telepathy

Ciri’elh’Ori is an important part of Volkerrian telepathy. Ciri’elh’Ori essentially translates to: Bonding. Volkerrians from birth bond telepathically with other people and can share memories between the bond. They do not need any form of touch telepathy with a bondmate. Strong bonds can even share energy with each other in close proximity. For instance if one part of the bond is injured the other can share energy to help them heal.

On the opposite end of the bond is the Ciri’gul-furrant. The Hatred Bond. Very oxymoronic to have a bond with an enemy, but that is the way Volkerrian telepathy works. VolkAstrum who tend to have this bond with other usually will cease conversation with the other end and will begin to erase their memories with this person.

Volkerrians while asleep can project themselves into their own astral plane. During this time they can relive memories with perfect recollection, or contemplate difficult mathematical problems. Usually only Ancient Volkerrians can perform this.

Because of the thick mist covering most of AeriaNidus, the VolkAstrum have developed telepathic vision similar to to the Aenar. While their eyes work in the same way that humans and Vulcans do, they also have the ability to travel in pitch black areas. It should be noted that while using their visual telepathy, the range of their physical vision is decreased along with the saturation and visual acuity of a few thousand colours.

Lastly, and most importantly is the Ze’elhia. No perfect translation for this exists although it comes close to the ancient word for ‘One’. Known to most in the Gamma Quadrant as the ‘Hive Mind Effect’ Volkerrians can project immense amounts of emotion onto others. When enough Volkerrians feel one way they begin broadcasting an unintentional telepathic signal that causes more and more telepaths or even willing non-telepaths to feel exactly the same as the ones broadcasting it. More telepaths then broadcast this signal, and cause massive amounts of people to feel an extreme emotion. In Volkerrian culture entire planets turn to feel one emotion. This can take days to wear off, or weeks, or even just hours depending on the total strength of the emotion.

Ciri’Ze’ferr

This is the state of memory transfer. Volkerians go to Iudain sanctioned sites, usually a place called the Archives. Volkerrians can store memories in objects that hold sentimental value. However most tend to go to the Archives located on AeriaNidus. From here the VolkAstrum that are reborn can receive their memories from past lives, or even look at other peoples. It should be noted that only telepaths can view the memories by themselves.

Tranquil:

This is the form of nullifying telepathy, and can be performed on anyone. Tranquility is usually performed by followers of the Zeq-heheirr, although others have been known to do it as well. Tranquility is considered an oddity on Volkerrian culture, and is often associated with criminals.

Tranquility is performed by Iudan monks, who surround the participant and telepathically bombard them. This usually takes a few hours, but in the end leaves the participant without any form of telepathic ability. It is also impossible for telepaths to sense or read Tranquil’s minds as they are totally devoid of any telepathy themselves.

Another form of becoming Tranquil is due to criminal activities. Usually referred to as Maximum Tranquil, this is where a High-convicted felon is made devoid of all telepathic abilities. However their mind is also left devoid of memories without a strong emotional connection. In addition, when the Maximum Tranquil victim dies, they are not reborn.

Psychology:

VolkAstrum are naturally a jovial, and loyal people. Life of exploration, advanced technology, and an absence of disease and war in the core systems have lead them to be happy. Their Loyalty comes from ancient Volkerrians where so many warring states had equal power, and loyalty was needed to progress through war times. Till this day they remain Loyal beyond normality.

They are also a very intelligent people who learn a large deal from testing and first hand data.

Volkerrians have a difficult time trusting species with equal technology to them because of years of conflict with the Dominion. They usually request direct liaisons onboard civilizations vessels and study their society for a trial period of only two months. After that the liaison will deem if it's a good choice to continue communications with the civilization.

Comparatively, Volkerrians trust civilizations with less advanced and more advanced technology. They try to help civilizations with less technology although they follow something extremely close to the Prime Directive. They also trust that civilizations with higher technology have had fewer wars.

Volkerrians like purist Command systems little. After their experiences with the Vorta and Jem’hadar, Volkerrians hate people who follow orders with no inkling of self-thought. While they have their own command structure and expect their people to follow it, questions may be asked.

These people are also very logical for being an emotional people. They find little need to talk about unnecessary or random things, and have little care for physical attraction. This is not to say they don’t like to chat, but instead of normally speaking about gossip they intend to investigate people and learn about them.

Counseling an Astruian and or Treating one

Be very careful when delving into Volkerrian treatment. Astruian are extremely private when it comes to medical and emotional needs. This is found as invasive and unneeded in most cases with Volkerrians. They would even deny medical assistance if they have lost a limb. Needless to say, Volkerrians dislike any sort of help considering it to be calling them weak.

Volkerrians should be subdued forcefully and made unconscious to perform medical treatments.

It should be noted that ALL neurological medicines are highly fatal to Volkerrians, and normal medicines usually require four times the normal amount due to their non existent veins.

Society and Culture

VolkAstrum society is largely communal and peaceful, following a strict moral and religious code as well as a rather redundant military hierarchy.

The giant iron-like trees, enormous mountains, wide rivers, hard-mineral surface, vast waterfalls and thick foliage have made it impossible to industrialize their homeplanet. Houses built into trees, mountainside homes, and numerous parks lay hidden under the many trees of the planet. Most major cities are built in the few clearings that have no Yu’reial (Giant) trees, although the majority of cities do not have that luxury.

Each city is unique on AeriaNidus. Resources differ widely depending on location. The Capital city for instance is built largely out of stone, and iron with minimal wood since they are the easiest to acquire. In the North-Western hemisphere, wood the softest material to get, and in the South-East hemisphere, metals geyser from the surface. For the majority, soft stone, and clay are the most common resource. Natural parks score each city allowing for many communal meeting grounds.

Thankfully, due to the VolkAstrum’s natural empathy abilities: wild animals throughout the planet are maintained through empathy. Most animals over the generations have come to avoid VolkAstrum cities, or else they traverse through the cities without hindrance.

The VolkAstrum military plays the sole role as the Union’s Peace Keepers. It is believed that to maintain their sovereignty and to maintain peace a firm and resolute military had to be established. However, the UUIN Stellar Armada is also the Union’s main branch of exploration.

Religion

The most defining factor for Volkerrians: religion indicates what kind of person you might be in Volkerrian culture.

Iudais

This is the major religion in the UUIN. Iudais follows the scripture first written by the ancient Volkerrians the VolkNidasia (Ancient Ones). The scriptures are a set of stories that have morales built into them. There are exactly five-hundred stories that tell the lives of heroes like Xeheq Drall, the shield bearer, and Vennas Zealot, the valkyrie. Eventually all the heroes turn into deity for living their lives with such morales, and break free of form such as gender, and physical begin. Even those who were originally faulted were able to obtain a state of higher being. The Iudais monks follow the structure of the Lulia Council of ancient times. Female priests are called Gemana, Male priests are called Uemana. There are three types of priests the normal Gemana and Uemana (called The Illia’Mana) the leaders of each Congregations are called Iudian (Speaker of Iudias). The Council of Lulia is nowadays a term meaning the High Council of the Iudais, although the proper term is Iudanna. The head of the Iudais is the Iudasa. Extremely similar to the pope in Roman Catholic society. The Iudasa sits on the UUIN council, although it is not an official seat. The Iudasa is considered part of the Primarch’s cabinet. The only negative aspect viewed in the Ciri Quel is personality wise: Greed, Lust, and Lack of Kindness. The Goddess Ciri was the one who reportedly recorded the Ciri Quel. As can be told from the Volkerrian language. Ciri is an important word and goddess, and is one of the most respected.

.

Iudais Sce’Dan

This is part of the Iudais relgion. The Iudas religion is not common to that of Earth religion. Peace is not directly part of the religion. While it is stated that “Peace if Preferred” the main protagonist Iudan is a war leader who faces Maq’Deltoe, a confused and misguided King. The Stories of Iudan talk of a legendary caste raised from death and bred for war against evil. This has not caused any form of crusade as in history they are protectors only. Now a day they are altered: Thus the Sce’Dan was made. The Sce’Dan are Volkerrian Commandos who have trained from birth to attain physical, telepathic and mental perfection. They are the epitome of Volkerrian strength, and intelligence. The Agents of Iudas Sce’Dan are called Iudellia (Warriors of Iudan). A great deal of Sce’Dan serve on vessels as advisors, or Third in Command. This is a lifelong commitment and the Sce’Dan are bound to the UUIN.

Major Deity:

  • Iudan: Leader, and Protector of the Dead
  • Ciri: Goddess. Creator of People, and recorder of the Ciri Quel
  • Xeheq: God of the Vanguard
  • Vennas: Goddess of Honor
  • Betio: Patron of the Arts
  • Loria: Goddess of Writing and Keeper of Knowledge
  • Lebiode: God of the Water Bearer
  • Zeq: The Stranger
  • Ferria: Creator of the Lands
  • Menda: Patron of Food
  • Phoa: Goddess of Affection
Verial

This religion is a simpler then either. It is the second major religion and carries much weight within the Iu-Zeh. Verial believers are called Ve’hessen, and there is no command structure. The Verial relgion follows a part of the Ciri Quel called the Lower Cast. They follow minor deity who have assigned gender. They believe that all life is sacred and that there is no enlightenment, but the enlightenment of knowledge, and hope. Most Ve’hessen use Ver meditation lamps at least once per day.

  • Verial Minor Deity:
  • Clora: Mother of Music
  • Enthen: God of Health and the Caduceus
  • Gloy’finell: God of Safe Travel
  • Dessara: Goddess of Animals
  • Liera: Handmaiden of Vennas
  • Sere: Goddess of Hope and the Future
  • Fere: God of Joy
  • Kere: God of Kindness
Zeq-heheirr

No other religions is as rigorous and demanding as the Zeq-heheirr. To be a disciple of the Zeq Quel is a lifelong commitment. They follow the Zeq Quel a rather newer book of the Ciri Quel. The Zeq Quel was made approximately three thousand years after the Ciri Quel and instead follows the Srange, Zeq. While the Ciri Quel does not make Zeq a negative figure the Zeq Quel tells about the sins of Volkerrian greed and personality and promotes the true way to reach a state of pure heaven. Their book explains how Zeq tricked Ciri into recording deeds which were all fake. The Zeq-heheirr submit himself to physical torture as well as mental torture. The Zeq-heheirr believe that once you can longer feel pain you will reach enlightenment. Their structure has only two rings. The Zeq monk called a Zerrian, and the Priest Hierarch the Zeq-Hassan (Speaker of Zeq).

Schooling

Primary school is extremely hard compared to Federation standards, and usually ends once the Volkerrian reaches the age of 13. By Volkerrian standards Federation schooling is extremely hard. Easier subjects learned in the Federation are learned at older ages while the hardest subjects are taught at younger ages. This is so learners have embedded in their memory the hardest things to know sooner.

After Primary school there is a mandatory field activity year, for Volkerrians to learn their life interests. The reason for the fewer years of schooling is because the Volklerrians believe there should be more time for Self Interested Schooling such as University studying.

The Field Activity Year, or Assignment Year can be a plethora of different things. People looking for a military based career will apply to join a vessel for a year worth of missions and see how it suits them. Aspiring scientists can get assigned to research stations. Athletes will get assigned a team and see how that works. During the year, the student can request a transfer to a different area. A full year is required in one single area to pass the Assignment Year.

The most famous University within the UUIN is the Academy of Advanced Sciences

Food and Beverage

A lot of Volkerrian food and drink are sweet, due to the sugars in the jungles of AeriaNidus. However they also have spicy foods. Besides that however Volkerrians do not have different types of food. A great majority of Astrus’ diet is plant based.

Some Foods:

  • Galics- A type of bread (Golden Colored, bread shaped)
  • Sureal- A delicacy plate on AeriaNidus, spicy
  • Heral- Meat from a Heras bear, considered sweet.
  • Yana- A type of fruit, sweet, a sunset orange with a hard outer shell, and green soft inside.
  • Zealot- A peach like fruit, fuzzy, and tan with a soft outer shell as well as inner shell, seed is skin.
  • Derall’Es- A vegetarian plate with a lot of spices.
  • Uecka- A asparagus like plant, yellow
  • Opa- A broccoli like plant, sweet
  • Sae- Ginger like root fiber, spicy
  • Joi’elh- A sweet dish of plants, and Heral
  • Tesral- A spiced meat from the Tesk animal.
  • Durel- Watermelon like plant, spicy

Some Drinks:

  • Sureael- A delicacy wine, served with Sureal, sweet, violet color but see through.
  • Juntia- A juice extremely spicy, orange colored.
  • Veio- an extremely sweet rum
  • Pëar-i - A bland vodka like drink.
  • Loli- A spicy juice, dark red
  • Kpa- A green juice made from Opa plants, smoothie like
  • Deshian- A tea made from Sae root
  • Volkerrian Tea- The ‘basic’ tea of Volkerrians, slightly sweet, smooth
  • Danse- Extremely thick wine
  • Ista’vera- A special wine for religious occasions.
  • Ista’nera- An extremely sweet wine, based off of Ista’vera.

Government

UUIN Symbol

The Volkerrian government is known as the Vi’erial. Volkerrians live in a mixture of a socialist and democracy. Resources are divided among everyone, while money is used in non-VolkAstrum trade. All Volkerrians are required to serve in Government for at the very least a year.

Each county (Finell) has their own council called the Vi’essen (County/Smaller Council). The elected leader of the smaller council is then part of the Vi’Aeria (World Council). Each UUIN planet has a single Vi’Aeria council which acts like Congress. Three people from the Vi’Aeria then are part of the Vi’Sele (High Council). This council is made up of Three people from the Vi’Aeria and five others: a military leader, a diplomatic leader, and the leader of the Sce’veu (Knowledge Committee), plus two other Government Branch leaders. The Vi’Sele acts as the executive branch, while the Union’s citizens vote on bills to be passed, and major decisions.

The Vi’essen is in charge of their counties renovations, buildings, and allocations of their own resources. The Vi’Aeria is in charge of making bills, as well as acting as the judicial branch judge and jury. The Vi’Sele is in charge of foreign affairs, the defense of VolkEhar, and AeriaNidus, declaring judges and jury in the Vi’Aeria, settling political fighting, and coordinating all councils.

Volkerrian government meetings work differently than many species. Each department, and or agency acts as their own country in simpler terms. Thus once agreements are met all parties come out with some win, and some lose. Meetings are convened when a minimum of three points are presented. Points are approved for discussion by the Vi’Sele, and Vi’Aeria judges.

Agencies:

  • Vi’Deus- Chamber of Councils
  • Sce’veu- Knowledge Committee (Science)
  • Sce’batch- War Committee
  • Denubesh- Diplomatic Branch
  • Eseka’Deus- Espionage and Reconnaissance Intelligence Branch
  • Iu-Zeh- Religious Branch
  • Sce’Deus- Law Enforcement

Utopia Union of the Ithal'lous Nations

The Union is composed solely of all Volkerrian planets and core colony worlds. No other species or systems are permitted entry into the Union. The Utopia Union of the Ithal'lous Nations is the ruling body of the IlliaNidus system including VolkEhar, and AeriaNidus. The Vi’Sele council is part of the leading group of the Union simply titled the Parliamentary Council. The Vi’Sele hold three of the five seats in the Council. The three seats are declared by unanimous vote from the Vi’Sele council. The other two seats are occupied by the Volkerrian General-at-Arms, and the head of state the Primearch. This title is held until: death, impeachment, resignation. The Parliamentary Council is in charge of the entire Union and most of its military. The Union has declared that individual systems are limited to three fleets independently.

Upon meeting a new space faring civilization, the Utopia Union will send over and officer to work inside one of their vessels to observe their culture. If the Exchanged-officer declares that the culture of the new civilization is adequate to the Utopia Union then more diplomatic channels are made. If the officer declares that the culture is not adequate, the Utopia Union will cease all but military communications. This is primarily to ensure that prejudices is not present within a society towards the other.

The Abbreviated version of the Utopia Union of IlliaNidus is UUIN.

All UUIN vessels have the tag VNV (Volkerrian Naval Vessel).

The Concordant Sovereign Leagues

The Sovereignty is an alliance composed of multiple species in an attempt to unify the Quadrant. The Volkerrians started the movement after the Krynar War. With the Dominion out of the way the Quadrant could start to recover, the war torn people left the Volkerrians as a major power. The Volkerrians along with the Yaderan initiated the Concordant Sovereign Leagues and immediately accepted the Teplan as a Council member. There are three Council seats: VolkAstrum, Teplan, and Yaderan. The Leagues however act as a Senate incorporating representatives from multiple species. While the member list is low in its early ages the Sovereign Council wants to only admitted species with honorable causes. The League shares a single fleet (although divide into sub-fleets) ships from all member councils are expected to chip in. The UUIN contributed their entire 7th Flotilla Fleet seeing as the Jem’hadar are no longer threats. Possible candidates are: The Dosi, Paradan, Karemma, Stakoron, Wadi, Farwali, Straxid, TuRuun and T-Rogoran. Smaller species are already admitted to the Leagues.

The Abbreviated version of the Concordant Sovereign Leagues is CSL.

All CSL vessels have an additional transponder tag AAV (Alliance *Aegis Vessel) *Aegis is used as a synonym for protection in this case.

The CSL is headed by the Imperator of Seats, the other two seats are called the Proctor Seats. Currently the Yaderan holds the Imperator title.

Planet Lives

The Volkerrian homeworld lies within the IlliaNidus system. An extremely unique system just like their sentient counterpart. IlliaNidus is a Primary Two star system with an orbiting star at the systems perimeter. The two main stars are: Rannoack, and Quaria both of which lie outside of stellar classification norms. The stars lie closest to Type O main sequence stars however are roughly the size of Sol, and rotate slower. Both stars have a horizon line made up primarily of stable Astatine which most likely serves to amplify the luminosity of the stars. However this also serves to create a natural cloak around the system with the addition of both Xenon and Iodine, the system does not show up on sensors at all even to Volkerrian ships. This is how the Volkerrian were able to survive the Krynar onslaught. In addition the system also has a smaller star orbiting the perimeter of the system, coating the perimeter with additional blackout particles. Every approximate 250 years the perimeter star ‘Derria’ (Guard) passes close to either VolkEhar or AeriaNidus during winter. Derria is an extremely dull star with a weak gravitational field.

The system is considered extremely fertile. The system has a total of eight habitable planets. The system has a total of sixteen planetoids in the system.

Technology

Naval Design

Most starships within the UUIN have similar external design to Jem’hadar starships. However, VolkAstrum ships are incredibly smooth both visually and physically. VolkAstrum starships either have two warp nacelles similar to Federation starships, or a singular large ring around the aft of their ships which acts as the warp nacelle. The Federation-Like-Dual Nacelles each have a small chroniton warp core. The Ring-Nacelle is a massive chroniton warp core. These cores are connected to the main Warp core which is located in the body of the ship.

Internally VolkAstrum starships differ from normality. Gravity plating is used for two decks. For instance: The gravity plating on deck one is also used for deck two. Thus turbolifts have their own gravity settings. Bridges are located in several places sometimes on Deck One in some ship design and sometimes as the fore of the ship. The bridge has the ability to physically change itself into several different forms: Standard Configuration, Battle Bridge, Lockdown, and Grey Mode. Each configuration has its own special set up and advantages in different situations.

Cores

Volkerrians have highly advanced ships that run off of Heavy-Particle Chroniton Warp Cores. Tests have shown this to be a much more efficient form of Faster than Light transport as well as a cleaner one. Volkerrian built vessels can travel at transwarp speeds, and are harder to detect on subspace sensors. In addition, the Chroniton warp cores produce 2.78 times more power than standard Matter/Anti-Matter cores. Such cores however are extremely susceptible to damage when not handled properly.

Starship Weaponry

Weaponry aboard VolkAstrum starships are based on their main power source. After many phases of using plasma, photon, tetryon based weaponry they settled on phaser for a time before finding that verteron based weapons worked better. VolkAstrum do not use banks, or turrets or standard arrays. The exterior of a UUIN ship is smooth because thousands of emitters line the hull, covering almost the entire ship. Thus Volkerrian vessels have a three-hundred-sixty degree firing arc, and can launch several beams at once.

They also contain several different types of torpedoes. In main use are Heavy-Particle Chroniton shells. Highly effective against hulls these torpedoes have a much smaller explosion radius then Quantum torpedoes, however, they make up by destabilizing a larger area. Weakening hull integrity as well as causing system havoc on the impact decks. The other type of main torpedo is Graviton. Volkerrians have found that Graviton torpedoes work well, and cause no risk to disrupting the Chroniton Cores.

Cognitive Interface Consoles

Known simply as “CIs”, CI Consoles are linked with telepathic communication. While all systems within the UUIN come equipped with CIs, Scientists and Engineers continue to work out their faults. CI stands for Cognitive Interface. Current designs are limited, and the communication range is short for lone consoles. CIs have the ability to telepathically communicate with its user. Minimal information can be transferred from the console to the user, but the user can issue commands and such from a distance. Additionally CI system Engineers are experimenting with Precognitive Formulas in an attempt to increase vessel survivability.

AI and Computers

Standard computers within UUIN and advanced CSL species are starting to use AI based computer cores. By Law within the CSL, AI cores are restricted to perform few functions relative to what system they are built into. However, any VNV housing a AI core extends the cores use incorporating electronic warfare. AIs differ widely in the UUIN, being programmed with emotional matrices or mathematical routines to better suit their use, and to cause predictable algorithms.

Under conditions where no one is physically able to take command, the AI activates a subroutine to flee towards the nearest friendly station. If this is not possible the AI will attempt to hide the vessel. Volkerrian Intelligence services use a more advanced AI illegal to the CSL, but few are made.

Loria Prime is an example of Volkerrian AI. Named after the Goddess of Knowledge; Loria Prime is located on VolkEhar. 'Her' primary duties are the sustainability of all electronic activity within the Home System. In dangerous circumstances, Loria Prime assumes controls of mobile defense platforms, shield generators, and other devices. Her AI programming means she can also adapt to security systems and new scenarios.

Personal Weaponry

Volkerrian personnel weaponry is extremely limited. VolkAstrum prefers starship combat as their vessels usually have a distinctive superiority. Volkerrians weapons have two different particle modes: verteron and graviton. Adaptations have been made so that weapons are used for more than just combat. For instance, the graviton setting can be used to move heavy objects. Most security weapons are limited to pistols, there is only one form of standard VolkAstrum rifles which also includes a chroniton setting.

Sensory

Unlike Federation technology, VolkAstrum variant of tricorders rests on their waist-belt. These devices are circular and usually never come off the belt. The devices known commonly as a ‘recorder’ utilizes a holographic system to display information in addition to the brain of the recorder, a wrist band is added for easier holographic display. When one's wrist is upturned the display activates and provides all the functionality of a tricorder. Officers and Enlisted wear an additional earpiece that works with the recorder (HUD).

Communication

Civilian populace uses several different forms of communication. Subspace communications are the most standard use of communications. Although inside IlliaNidus, Subspace can only be achieved between planets, as the systems particle density is too high to send signals outside of the system in subspace. The other form of communication utilized is Quantum Communication. Although this technology is faster than subspace, these communications take extra time to set up because of their tricky engineering feats.

HUD Technology

This piece of technology is only used for military personnel within the UUIN, and Volkerrian officers within the CSL. An earpiece that fits around the ear, in conjunction with the recorder make up for this HUD. The earpiece can project a 360-degree holographic field that can be used for anything that a tricorder can be used for. In addition, it serves as a four-dimensional communication system and surveillance device. The HUD display can be used to transfer files or make new ones: in essence, it can be used as a scaled down computer. The device used to work the recorder is called the Compass. The Compass is a triangular grey piece that rests on the ear.
