The training that both of them went through was hard, but with her background it made it a bit easier. As the training went on, she finally understood why when there was only ten spots open for joining eleven were selected. That was because the host suddenly became ill, and the symbiont was soon going to be removed.
Eve since the Academy, Beno went to her first assignment, bright eyed filled with potential and mischief. Great qualities for Science Officer to have, it helped her to achieve the Chief Science Officer position quickly. Quick thinking problem solving, and using what she had to make up for things she didn't. Beno even used the training to help her fellow officers, and plans on continuing the trend. Making it all the way to Second, and later to the First Officer position. Eventually she does hope to have the Captains Chair, and planed to stay there for as long as she could.
