The USS Callisto is a Luna Class Reconnaissance Science Vessel, launched in 2420 and assigned to Pathfinder Project. In the wake of the Attack on the Borg Megasphere, Starfleet Command put together an Expeditionary Force of newly developed and commissioned starships with cutting edge technology, such as quantum slipstream drives, to explore the Delta Quadrant with two aims; first to seek the origins of the Borg and potential vulnerabilities, and also hopefully discover the fate of the long lost USS Voyager.
Recalled to the Alpha Quadrant soon after arrival due to damage and injuries to her captain, [[Zan, Serran| Serran Zan]], the Callisto was lost on her second mission when the [[Cardassian Union|Cardassians]] interrupted negotiations with the Ferengi for the [[Parhelia]] system. Her Waverider yacht, the Siren, survived, though only eight crew members did the same.
