The '''Betelgeusians''' hail from the planet of [[Betelgeuse|Betelgeuse II]]. They are a seven foot tall [[humanoid]] species, descended from a race of leopard-like eagles. They have claw and bone structures like a condor, but walk upright. The Betelgeusians became a member of the [[United Federation of Planets]] by in [[2230]]. Betelgeusians consider Betelgeuse IV (Hav'a'halar) their [[homeworld]], but they once lived on all three [[Class M]] planets in the 2270ssystem. Members of this species have two mouths: one for speaking, one for eating food. They have a strong hunting drive, needed to sublimate with both sports and other forms of competition.
