1918 - Ensign David S. Ingalls shoots down his fifth enemy aircraft and becomes the first US Navy Ace while flying with the Royal Air Force.
1960 - The first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) launched from Newport News, Virginia.
