The Alpha Quadrant Expedition, or ''Pioneer Expedition'' was launched in July 2418, under the overall command of [[Rear Admiral]] [[Jal, Kinziri|Kinziri Jal]] until 2420, when Jal was promoted and command temporarily fell to [[Captain]] [[Annan, Mackenzie|Mackenzie Annan]]. The expedition was based at [[Pioneer Outpost]], a Sierra-class Outpost located in interstellar space near the Dozaria system.
