Upon returning to the Sol System after retrieving the missing USS Gettysburg, command of the Philadelphia was turned over to me by orders of Fleet Admiral Jonathan Beckett. My former Commanding Officer, Captain Gage was promoted to the rank of Commodore and given command of the Federation Class Carrier USS Republic.

At Starbase One I attended the wedding of Captain Daniel Wueste, also a former Commanding Officer of mine, and his fiancé Samantha Aster. I also ran into Lieutenant Tor-Ith Cateil on the base who had been stationed aboard the Philadelphia, but whom I hadn't seen for quite some time. He and I were able to catch up and I discovered that he would be serving once again on the Philadelphia under my command.

Our shore leave was cut short when the Romulans attacked Starbase One. Reporting to the Command Center as ordered, we discovered that a second attack was proceeding against both the Starbase and the Romulan attackers. A subspace conduit had opened and a Borg armada came though, launching an attack that disabled the base almost instantly.

FAdm Beckett initiated the Armageddon Directive and I was beamed directly to the bridge of my ship, along with my crew and assorted refugees from the Starbase. After shooting our way out of the space dock, the Philadelphia attempted to flee the system as ordered by the coded message I received to send us to the Organians for help. Unfortunately, the ship was hit by a glancing Borg weapon and we were hurled through an open transwarp conduit.

The Philadelphia came out of the conduit more than a year away from the most remote Federation outpost at high warp. The Philly's condition upon exiting the conduit was critical. To make matters worse, my First Officer, Colonel Avon was leaving the bridge when a turbolift malfunction sent him plummeting to the bottom of the shaft. His body was discovered by Ensign Green in Engineering and was beamed immediately to Sickbay where it was determined that his condition was grave enough that he needed to be put into stasis until he could be taken to a Starbase where specialists could work to treat him.

Discovering that we have a Commanding Officer on board that had never made it to her new posting, I placed Commander Hasu as First Officer of the ship in Avon's place. Commander Hasu is a relative unknown to me, but I needed all my senior officers where I knew they could perform best. Commander Godard was assigned as Second Officer at that time, but it was necessary to relieve her of those duties when her behavior became erratic. I then appointed Commander Dramar as XO, and Commander Jacobs as Second Officer.

The engineers continued to work on the various ship repairs, but the engines remained offline. We finally managed to fire the impulse engines, only to have them malfunction, sending us hurtling towards the only Class-M planet (4 in the E-19 system) within sensor range. We were able to disengage the engines and use the thrusters to put us into a decaying orbit. Sensor readings were sketchy at best, due to Theta radiation that was disrupting our scans. The best information we had was that the planet was uninhabited and had a distinct forest and desert region. The radiation was localized in the Forest region only.

I gave the order to abandon ship when it became apparent that there was no way to make repairs before the ship ran out of life support. Taking our shuttles down in shifts, we were able to evacuate the crew and refugees to the desert region of the planet and make camp. After securing a perimeter, one of my Security patrols was attached and retaliated with deadly force. When I arrived on the scene, I quickly determined that the beings that had entered the camp were sentient and intelligent. The Security patrol had been stopped from further exacerbating the situation by Commander Jacobs, who arrived shortly before I did.

Due to the nature of our mission and the poorly handled first contact, I attempted to make telepathic contact with the creatures to try and convey our apologies and desire to help the wounded creature. It suggested that we follow and I took a team with me to the forest region where we were led.

The creatures took us to a wooded city built into the trees themselves and we were brought to a Medical chamber where we attempted to help the wounded creature. A telepathic request for help was answered with the knowledge necessary to treat the creature. The information was overwhelming and I was flooded with their thoughts on how their anatomy worked. When its condition had become stable, we were taken before another creature like the ones that had led us to the village and our communication equipment was reactivated, including our universal translators.

The creature introduced himself as Il'er, the Governing Elder of the Em'sha. The attack and subsequent help we offered the injured Em'Sha had been a test they derived to determine the type of people we were and what our intentions towards them were. They too had been attacked by the Borg and had been able to repulse them with an artifact they called a mental amplifier in the form of a crystal. They had reservations about giving the artifact to us, but I gave them permission to read my mind as deeply as they needed to to see that we would protect the artifact against all cost from the Borg.

When he was convinced of our sincerity, he told us that we would be allowed to take the crystal with us, and that they had been aboard our ship affecting repairs to send us back to our own space. Accepting the Em'Sha's gift, we were returned to our ship by arts unknown and contacted the crew, ordering them to return to the Philadelphia in the shuttles. When everyone was aboard, we were transported by the Em'Sha back to Federation Space, in the Vulcan system.

We made best possible speed to Sol, the Philadelphia fully repaired and all her systems running perfectly. Upon entering the system, we discovered an attack already underway by not only Federation forces, but vessels from the Romulans, Klingons, Tholians, Mirak and Species 8472. Gathering all of the telepaths from the Philadelphia, we sent out a call to all the telepaths within the range of our gifts and asked for their help to disrupt the Collective.

Using the Em'Sha artifact as a focus, we concentrated on destroying the Borg once and for all. During the mental battle we were fighting, and unbeknownst to me, the Tholians boarded the Philadelphia and broke our telepathic link. I was the last link in the chain and was badly injured in the attack, my cardiac and respiratory function ceased as the Tholians stole the artifact and escaped aboard their ship.

Commander Hasu ordered the Philadelphia to Starbase Alpha and my body was transported to the Starbase Medical Facility.

As of Stardate 20211.03 I was assigned as Commander of this starship, replacing Commodore Gage who was assigned to the Federation carrier, USS Republic. The transition of moving from First Officer to Captain is exciting and challenging. I look forward to what lies ahead.

Where do I begin?

The attack and subsequent destruction of Star Base One, the San Francisco Shipyards, Utopia Planetia, and every other Federation outpost in the Sol System put the Armageddon Directive into effect and landed me and my crew back on the Philly before the Starbase blew.

We received our orders and tried to get out of the system, but we didn’t even make it past Pluto.

The initial mission, as outlined by our orders, was to contact the Organians and gain their help against the Borg, having reached warp on our way out of the Sol system, a Borg Wedge attacked us and pushed us into a transwarp conduit, leaving us more than a year away from the most distant of Federation outposts, needless to say, our mission to seek out the Organians is a failure.

To complicate matters further, I had sent Jacobs and Avon down to the cargo bay to take care of the apparent refugees that we had acquired due to the Armageddon Directive, 33 people in the initial count. The issue of how we will take care of these additional people remains to be seen.

A Class-M planet has been detected on sensors and we are currently en route to investigate and hopefully find assistance. The estimated time of repair for the Philadelphia is more then four months. We are without warp drive as our port nacelle is smashed.

I guess we have our health.

I am recording this en route to my quarters, to collect what I will need along with Tediin and Zedd.

The Philadelphia has sustained damage that cannot be repaired quickly enough to keep us aboard. I have ordered the ship evacuated to the planet E-19 IV, that we are now in orbit of, although how long she is able to remain in orbit is sketchy. Computer projections show just over two weeks.

The desert sections have low enough emissions that we will be able to land there in relative safety. Hopefully we will be able to come back aboard and get the Philly repaired quickly. I have not the time to work it out at this point, I must get everyone off before gravity fails as well.

I have placed Commander Soven Hasu as First Officer, as Colonel Avon has suffered a terrible accident and is in long-term stasis to keep him alive.

Further I have placed Commander Dramar as Executive officer and Commander Jacobs as Second Officer.

I had to relieve Commander Godard of the position due to her erratic behavior. Hopefully I will be able to come to some kind of terms with her, but right now I just don't know.

Like the Captains of old Earth sailing vessels, I have taken to keeping my log in a log book since there is no power for the normal ship's recorder. If and when I return to the Philadelphia, these will be converted into standard Star Fleet recordings. There is believed to be some sort of dampening field in effect that is hampering the use of any of our technology.

Since landing on the planet we have attempted to make the best of a bad situation. We set up a perimeter around our camp and had placed patrols on guard because of reports of noises and odd sightings.

Many people, including myself had a feeling of being watched or of something not being quite right. Upon investigation though, we had found nothing until sounds of fighting and what I was told was a projectile weapon discharge alerted us to an alien presence.

When I arrived at the scene, I found several alien creatures fighting with members of my crew. The projectile weapon had belonged to one of the Philadelphia's Security Officers, Ensign Brackett, and had wounded one of the alien creatures.

To further compound matters, Ensign Lideah continued the attack with her bat'leth. I try to give my crewmembers the benefit of the doubt, but we didn't have universal translators and the creatures did come upon them suddenly.

Upon taking control of the situation, my brother Tediin suggested telepathic projection with the creatures in an attempt at rudimentary communication. The creatures appeared receptive after trying to show them that the incident was a misunderstanding by my crewmen, and that we meant them no further harm.

It worked after a fashion and I gathered an away team to follow the creatures wherever they intended to lead us. After a long trek we came upon a forested area that contained a small village. They have taken us to what appeared to be a hollowed out tree, but was really a small chamber with primitive medical instruments.

They seem to want us to help the injured creature and Doctor Jacobs and I will do what we can. I will try and add more to this log as time permits.

War is hell. At least, that is what my parent's told me. Mom and Dad both saw their share of action against the Romulans and had their stories, but not one of those stories, nor their wisdom, nor any of their experience given to me could prepare me for my first day as a Star Fleet officer.

Today, I have been nearly assimilated by the Borg, blown to smithereens on what used to be Starbase One, and chewed out by my new supervisor. I have passed out, been hurled against a bulkhead, and lead around this ship like a dog attached to a leash. I have gone from, in my selfishness, lamenting about the lack of significance of my new assignment to fighting to keep the damn ship from falling apart. The day isn't over, either.

I wish I could say all of it has just been a part of one horrific nightmare. I can't. This is the Star Fleet of today. I took an oath at the very beginning to serve with my life. I will honor that oath.

I should have worked for Mom's stellar research center back in Chicago instead. At least I'd be under that global shield with my family. Mom, Dad... I hope you're alright. Star Fleet has probably reactivated your commissions by now. Don't let them give you grief. We're coming back for you, you know.

My first duty shift seems to be over. It was... an enlightening experience, for lack of a better word. Probably the top of my day has been staring through a hull breach into the depths of space. I'll save the details for the duty log.

The only people I have formally met thus far have been the chief engineer and another ensign. Commander Godard is not quite what I expected as head of engineering. Then again, I wasn't quite sure what to expect at all. I'll have to see how things play out. I haven't even gotten a chance to meet the captain yet. The only thing I've seen of her is the back of her head on the bridge. I'm sure that will change soon as I've been given the task of repairing a warp nacelle.

Funny, isn't it? This ship must be that undermanned. I won't be doing the job alone, of course, but I really wasn't expecting to be in charge of such a task so early. That just goes along with not expecting a Romulan surprise attack and the overrunning of the Sol system by the Borg. Star Fleet. There's a new surprise everyday. I hate leading people, too. I should have enlisted instead. I'd rather work than lead. Still, mom and dad insisted I go with the officer program instead. I wonder if either of their careers started like this.

Going back to the rest of the crew, I'm sure I'll end up meeting the rest of the officers sooner or later. It's a small ship. The next person I'll be meeting with is the doctor. My back is killing me. There's nothing so fun as getting thrown like a rag doll against the bulkhead. Doctors are probably the people I like interacting with best. You go in, they fix you, you leave. As long as this ship's doctor doesn't chit-chat, I'll be fine.

In any case, it seems we've stepped down from general quarters. I've got a few hours before I have to go back on duty. Maybe, just maybe, I can get some sleep before that. Sleep and a good shower.

It's been some time since I have had the chance to record anything. Chalk that up to the Borg and a series of disasters which have left myself and the entire Philly crew marooned on a desolate, barren planet. The ship itself is still intact and in orbit, at least for a while, but a complete loss of life support has forced everyone to the surface. Even now, I'm recording this log on a personal data chip with a tricorder while taking a break from erecting a makeshift sickbay on the planet surface. That's right. We're all setting up shop down here for what seems to be the long haul.

Now that I have had time to think about things, I've come to the conclusion that I have someone with a cruel sense of humor as my guardian angel. What are the odds? By that, I don't mean the improbable series of events that led me to this stage of my life. I'm talking about my dad. He used to tell me plenty of stories about his Star Fleet career. His first assignment was on the Bellopheron. I think he was my age, too. What happened to him? The Borg destroyed his ship at the now infamous Battle of Wolf 359. He got lucky when the Borg ignored the plethora of escape pods that emerged from the wreckage. I remember just sitting there in awe and listening as he described the details. Well, he described them as gently as he could for my little ears. Now here I am in the same position. I can't wait to joke with him and mom about the irony of all of this when we get back to Earth. I wonder what Star Fleet has them doing right now? I admit that it would be a little strange to call them both sir when we get back together.

My only seemingly recent perk has been a promotion. It's not anything to celebrate about, really. You get a better choice of tasks to carry out and a heftier responsibility. My department head is alright with that, though. She's not a task master, although she has high expectations of her crew. That's fine with me. I'd rather work than anything else. She and a few others from the engineering staff have been the only crewmembers that I've really had the chance to speak with. I haven't even met the captain yet. I can only imagine what must be going through her head at this point.

I can't recall the last time I slept for any given time. I'm surprised that I've lasted for this long already. My adrenal gland must look like a tomato at this point. Lack of sleep and obvious stress has gotten me so wound up that I can barely think straight. I wish I still had my manuals and artifact collection. That would at least help me relax. Unfortunately, I lost all of my personal possessions when Starbase One was wiped out. Such is life.

Maybe in a year or two, I'll be able to look back on all of this and laugh. That's about as long as it will take us to reach Federation space from here. I've run out of time to think about it, though. It seems that we're getting ready to put the finishing touches on our little project. I'll keep this chip and tricorder with me to put in a log every once in a while. It'll help pass the time.

I will do my best to describe the past few days. It is difficult to recall everything that happened, and what can be recalled is still very hard for me to believe. Perhaps it will be better to continue on from the personal log I recorded on the planet. I will have to remember to transfer it from my tricorder chip to the ship's computer. In any case...

After supervising the majority of the construction for the crew's base camp, I became even more physically and mentally exhausted than I already was. Several days of sleep deprivation and near-disasters tends to take a toll on the body and the psyche. With everything in operational condition, I decided to unwind in the mess tent. Unfortunately, I chose to do so in... well... there's no way to butter it up. I took to a bottle of Saurian brandy. I rarely drink any kind of unsynthesized alcohol, but in a selfish manner of reasoning, I decided to just forget things, even though everyone else on board had gone through the same thing. My decision would have only had me regretting it in the morning, but unfortunately, disaster decided to strike again at that exact moment. I was unable to be of any assistance to my shipmates until I was purified by one of the medical staff. Both the captain and Commander Godard saw me in my pathetic state. I was doing so well, too. I had been perfect with my reactions and decisions under fire until that point. Perhaps I can make it up to them. Perhaps they understood the circumstances, however weak the reasons were, and will allow me my one mistake. I'll find out soon enough, I guess, once we return to Federation space and remove the Borg once and for all from the Sol system.

That brings me to the next phase of the story. To keep things simple, we encountered the natives, who call themselves the Em'shar, in a Prime Directive debacle. I don't know all of the details, but one of the aliens ended up injured and we looked like the aggressors. Considering that their planet had already been visited by the Borg, we would have been eliminated in any other place in the galaxy. Fortunately, their race is a far more forgiving one than ours. They could have wiped us all out with a single thought, literally. I was lucky enough after everything that had happened to go along with an away team to meet with their local leader. I won't bother describing their physical appearance and abilities as that will be in the medical logs, but to meet one of them is simply incredible. I never spoke a word the entire time. Not that I would have had to as I'm sure they could read me like a book, so to speak, but just being there is an experience that I will not soon forget. They are a remarkable race.

The Em'shar have restored our ship, power, and have given us a means not only to get home, but a weapon with which to defeat the Borg. It is telepathic in nature which takes any understanding of it right out of my fields of expertise, but hopefully we will find the way to use it to its full potential.

Now instead of scrambling to keep ourselves alive, we shall take the battle to the enemy. It's about time. I've already gone through the proverbial trial by fire. Right now, at least with the Borg, there's not much left that can surprise me. It's time to go meet mom and dad.

Well, after being assigned to the USS Philadelphia as the new CTO, I had a chance to meet a couple of my new shipmates at Starbase 1. About 5 minutes into that meeting the Romulans attacked, but that was followed by the Borg, God I hope they get what they deserve.

I really miss Mandy. Even though we always getting together then breaking up, I really loved her. If anything happened to her I'll make sure the Borg pay for it.

Now we've been attacked by the Borg again, this time they tried to hit us into a transwarp conduit. Somehow we ended up somewhere where nobody knows where we are at.

Well! Where do I begin? So much has happened in so little time. Whether all that has happened has been a good still remains to be seen. I was just transferred from the Gettysburgh after not even a day of service on her. Yep. Well I made it to the Captain Wueste's wedding on Starbase 1. But everything went downhill from there. Starbase 1 was destroyed and we are god knows where we are now.

Well the upside to all this is that I've met alot of people. I've met: The Captain, Commander Godard, The Captain's Brother, Who told me I project to loudly. Which has brought me to the conclusion of devising some new holo program to help me train my projecting. I have also met Ensign Kyle Rillith, who is also new just like me. If I might quote Captain James T Kirk, this is a "boat load of ensigns". OH! And let's not forget Lt. Nerol! He is a pain in the north-bound end of a south-bound mule. He has disregarded everyone's feelings and insulted commander Godard at least three times. Well Commander Godard fired him and made a big scene in engineering. He wanted so much to be Assistant but, he let it go to his head. Well it seems like there is more to come.

It really amazes me how far downhill things can go. Whoever said things can only get better never spent a day on a starship. Apparently there was a huge turbolift crash. I believe that it was Colonel Avon that was injured. A lot of engineers have begun to suspect foul play. Ensign Sevrick and I were teamed up to investigate the wreckage by Commander Godard. 
Which brings another question to mind. Where is Commander Godard and WHY the heck is Nerol back in engineering? I passed him on the way out to the wreckage. I personally suspect him after the big fight between he and Commander Godard.

Where to begin?

Today started out like everyday. I was on the Republic working with them on a countermeasure to the Romulan cloaking device. We were docked at Starbase 1, and the Red Alert sounded: we were under attack by the Romulans. So I ran off the ship and onto the Philly, which got out of spacedock shortly thereafter.

Once we got outside, both the Romulans and us were attacked by the Borg. They obliterated Starbase 1 and the Romulan fleet, which bought us time to escape. We were almost out of the system when a wedge attacked us and forced us through a Transwarp Conduit. We entered it and ended up more than a year away from Federation space at maximum warp.

One catch though: we had no engines left to go there.

So here we are, stranded. We cut off all non-essential systems, which includes most sensors, and we scientists find ourselves out of a job. So, after the other crewmen leave, I'm alone with Samantha Hart, my girlfriend. Passion rises, and in the heat of the moment I propose to her. Ask her to marry me in the middle of this crisis!

Is this a bad thing? By no means! It's probably the best thing I've done in a while. But it was so unexpected, I was surprised when the question came out of my mouth. But the best part is, she said yes! Yes!

At that moment, I became the happiest man in the quadrant. That was the best thing that happened that day anywhere, I'd guarantee that. So we embrace, and at that moment, Quill walks in, looks around, and asks to see us in his office.

We go in, and to our surprise, he promotes us and makes me Assistant Cheif Science Officer. And when I walked in, I was sure that I was in trouble because I dismissed everyone. So we all go to Ten Forward and have a drink, where we met my old friend Arthur so we could tell him the good news. The Captain even came down for a moment, where we asked her to preside over the wedding. She agreed, once we get the details planned out.

So this has been one of the weirdest days of my life. To quote an old book, this was truly 'the best of times and the worst of times.'

It is my first day on the ship, and already the feeling of alienation is present. I get this weird feeling that even though the Borg threat is over, I will have to keep my trusty blade handy at all times. I never did put any faith in phasers, or any other long range weapons for that matter. The crew is going to be brought down to the surface, and I will stay till the last possible second.

Today is not a good day to die, unless duty calls for it that is. The Captain is in good hands with all of us here.

The coast is clear, and I have to do this quick before they return.

There is a lot I wanted to do aboard this ship, but due to circumstances, we were forced to leave.

Going to the surface is going to bring back some childhood memories. I just hope I don't have to look out for the same things that I did as a child. A Klingon has a hard enough time with some people on their own, but you add Romulan DNA to it and its a whole new, what humans call ball game.

Things on the surface of this situation seem to be calm, and I guess with the tragedy, and all there was no time to notice that I am what I am, if they think I am part Vulcan it will be all right. For the time being, things are better then I had hoped, but for some strange reason I am still suspicious of everyone. Even though there is one person for some strange reason I feel as if I can let my guard down around him.

The people who I have accepted as my mother and father, said that sometimes I just need to relax a little, and not bust heads at every turn, and too trust people too. There is all sorts of people out there as well and they are not all bad.

I think I see some one coming......................................No false alarm.

the last thing is, there is a strange energy source on the surface and I have a feeling it is due to a prewarp society. Our sensors can not be accurate right now, and they don't pick up any life forms on this planet, but because of the prime directive, I have to be 100% sure.

After some time sleeping I awoke in a cold sweat, and knowing that I can not return to sleep. I had a really bad dream, and this time it was worse then the others. There I was standing in Engineering and the Borg were every where, and all I could do was stand there as Na'kita, and Cdr. Godard were both assimilated and I could do nothing to stop it.

Everything was on fire , and the ship was just just minutes from exploding then finally getting beamed aboard the borg vessel and seeing the ship explode, but I was not assimilated. That's when I woke up.

I am just going to get dressed and return to duty. I will do my best to be able to go to that Wedding in 10 Forward after all because I think this is going to be the first and last time I will be able to see this crew in a happy mood.

This is a fine crew I am part of, I just hope some of them will forgive me for what I have done in the past, because I feel as if my final hour is coming soon.

The camping trip is finally over, and so is this war. I am glad that as many people made out of it alive, and I am glad there were people that didn't let me die down there even though I made things difficult for some people down there. Ok everyone down there.

The one thing that gets me the most is that the one thing I never thought possible again happened again. I fell for a Human, He was a lot like the first one that I fell for, its just too bad he died.

Milo is going to be in good hands with me, I have already replicated him a few things to play with while I am away from him. I have also put a locater collar on him and have a tricorder that will know where he is at all times, and right now he is taking a cat nap on my pillow.

I hope he will be alright for a hour or two while Na'kita and I visit the star base. There is food and water out for him. I didn't want to go but Na'kita said I should because I don't have any people skills. I have no idea why she would say that, there were many people I didn't try to hit down there, I can think of four. Well I am going to meet Na'kita in what she called a Tavern. It sounds like fun.

We are preparing the first wave of the shuttles to leave the ship on there way to the planet. it is unfortunate that we must abandon ship but life-support is offline. I've had trouble thinking Logically and I believe there may be a problem with me, when we get the crew down to the planet I will have LCdr Jacobs give me a check up.

I, LCdr Quill Dramar, was promoted to the rank of Executive officer. This will be my first log entry as XO. The ship has been returned to perfect operational standards by a race of the Em'shar, an alien race we met while on Planet IV , Em'Shar, of the E-19 system. They are a quite fascinating race. Their technological as well mental abilities are centuries ahead of ours. T

heir entire planet is surrounded by a planetary cloak. This is why sensor indication no life on the planet. The Em'shar also have a dampening field around their planet that cancels out electronic devices rendering them useless. Lieutenant Commander Godard discovered that you electrical devices could be made to work for a short time by overloading them with power.

As per our mission orders, The Philadelphia was ordered to seek out he Orgonians and ask them for help. Since we were unable to make contact with them, we have acquired the help the Em'shar. They have entrusted to us a crystal weapon of terrible power.

The crystal apparently amplifies the telepathic powers of the user. The Em'shar who have previously fought the borg, who they refer to as the Storm, used this crystal to disrupt the collective allowing their forces to take advantage of the disarray and confusion caused by it.

We are now underway to Earth. The Em'Shar somehow instantaneously transported us the amazing distance from E-19 to the Vulcan system. Today, my friends and subordinate science officers, Lt. Aitrus Colso and LtJ.G. Samantha Hart were married. It was a beautiful wedding. I hope that it will serve as a reminder to the crew of what we are fighting for.

The next few hours are going to be the hardest hours of our lives. The Philadelphia along with the rest of the fleet will be engaging the borg at the Earth. This may be my last log entry. End Log.
