Childhood
Born and raised in the busy city of Philadelphia, Maggie never intended to look for trouble; it always found her first. Having opinions, she figured that the world needed to hear them. When it was clear that her brother Jackson was too busy for his “shrimpy sisters,” Maggie turned to her friend Delia. When they had first met in school, the two had strongly disliked each other. Over the years however, Maggie became less obnoxious, and Delia a tad less pretentious, and they grew on each other. Soon dubbed the ‘Duo of Disaster,’ they voiced their opinions and tried to change the world any way they could. With a love for warfare history, and adrenaline that let her think on her feet, Maggie was -to be polite- energetic and a tad eccentric. Delia on the other hand, was more reserved, but had quite a fury when she wished to release it. Together, they were a handful; one always having the other’s back.
Unfortunately, as they got older, Delia slowly started to fall in with the wrong crowd. When she became of age, Maggie’s parents decided it would be best if she enrolled in Starfleet Academy. Not wanting to leave her friend, the relationships Maggie held with everyone were quite hostile for a while, before she realized the big picture. Having an Uncle at the Academy helped Maggie’s family pull a few strings, and Maggie was able to attend the Academy right under the deadline.
USS Ticonderoga
Assigned to the USS Ticonderoga, Maggie’s first real mission had been relaxing until two of her most hated situations were used against her. She and a few others were kidnapped and held hostage by a small group of Ferengi androids androids. With communications to her ship and other crewmates totally cut off, the Midshipman was able to create a bastardized phaser and use it to help fight off the android until she was released from hostage. When promoted, she was awarded a medal for her heroics during the “Lobe Globe” mission.
During the Ticonderoga’s mission to Carraya, the ship found itself separated from the rest of the fleet. It was soon boarded by cybernetic KlingonsKlingons: a contrast that shocked Murphy so much that her inability to fight them only subsided at the last minute, and she was able to help her crewmates take back the ship. During this mission, a cybernetic Klingon tried to take over the Bridge, and Murphy threw herself on a grenade in an effort to save the First Officer and the rest of the Bridge crew. Later, Murphy was awarded the Diamond Star for her actions, and the Ensign was promoted to a Lieutenant, Junior Grade.
USS Dauntless
After a few inquiries, Maggie was all too happy to take a position as a Lieutenant Tactical Officer on board the USS Dauntless. Though she would be forced to leave her dog behind on Starbase Bravo, the still-unsure woman knew that the only way to help her situation was to move forward.
Upon Captain Torgh's return to the Dauntless,Starfleet sent a select number of the crew off on a highly-classified mission. Griffin Wright was promoted and transferred, leaving Maggie and the CTO position unfilled on the Dauntless. Shortly before the mission however, LCdr Prescott quickly stepped in to the CO slot as the crew set off for Klingon space. Commander Caldecott was ordered to transfer off as well, leaving Maggie without many close friends on-board, and leaving her to feel unexpectedly vulnerable.
USS Avenger & USS Gettysburg
Unfortunately, “bad” seemed to follow her. The USS Avenger, while structurally the same ship as the Dauntless, had other and short-lived plans for the Tactical Lieutenant. Sent on a covert and confusing mission of its own, the Avenger soon found itself pitted against another Federation ship: the Gettysburg. Seemingly stolen from Starbase, a good chunk of the crew (Maggie now included) went after the Avenger, only to recover it and quickly see it blown up. While it appeared the crew of the Gettysburg had been the culprit, the Avenger crew beamed aboard only to find that the villains had apparently committed suicide. The Avenger crew returned to Starfleet with the Gettysburg and the fragments of the Avenger, unsure of what their future (re?) assignment would be. While waiting, the Federation News Network started to piece together similar incidents, informing the population of the Federation that they were spiraling into a Civil War. Unable to contact her friends in Starfleet, her family on Earth, or her boyfriend Griffin (who was in the Alpha Quadrant), Maggie panicked. She became paranoid and manic, and an alcoholic to boot. Finally, her friend Isambard Eyles was able to contact her through an official channel, and Maggie's extreme behavior was slowly controlled. Though Starfleet (or what was left of it) saw it fit to assign Maggie and her new crew a mission, Maggie was still unable to contact Griffin Wright. While isolated while in her “training exercises,” Maggie was unable to send or receive messages. The new crew of the Gettysburg was more or less confined to Starbase Delta, which was the only respite Maggie found.
USS Sheridan
After a training mission and return to the Gettysburg, Maggie found herself whisked away, though it was technically Shore Leave for the crew. The mission had turned bad -of course- and it looked as if her family was about to make things even harder for her. Even with the Federation in a reported Civil War, her family were able to pull what little strings they could to get her back home to Earth. While there, Maggie was offered a promotion and transfer, and convenience, as well as her heart, demanded she take it. She found herself returning with her boyfriend to the USS Sheridan, where she would serve as the new Chief Tactical Officer. When the Sheridan went on shore leave to Earth, her boyfriend asked for her hand in marriage, and she accepted. Not long after, Griffin accepted a promotion and transfer to Starbase Bravo. With their relationship strained due to long distance, Maggie jumped at the chance to accept the CTO position on Bravo when it became open. Together again, the two wed, and settled down their lives on Bravo.
