At this point, we had reasons to believe that the shuttle Spock was trapped inside the cloud, and we asked the Ren how they got out. Martin explained that her Engineers were working on trying to change the properties of a unique molecule that seems to be part of the cloud.  They were working on a means of trying to use the excited particles to form a bubble around us that would let them permeate the cloud's membrane.  The Engineers thought they were making progress but something seemed to give them a strong assist.  At the time, her Engineers thought it might have been a probe launch but it might have been our shuttle.
To At that point the unthinkable happened. Lieutenant Commander Jadaris, driven by his connection to Orano, decided to borrow the shuttle Kristyn and go after the Spock himself. He ignored orders, and made a fool of himself. His reckless actions had left me no choice but to put a formal reprimand in his record. In the end, considering all he had given this crew and the fact that this was his first offence, it was decided that no further action was needed at this time. In the meantime, Martin, the Captain of the Ren, informed us that they were in the cloud real-time for a period of about twelve and a half days.  During that time, they noticed that an event seemed to take place within the cloud every thirty-three and a half hours in which the entire cloud seems to erupt in some kind of a chain-lightning event - the sensors showed that everything seemed to roil with those discharges.  The discharges seemed like static or electricity but they were not.  Her people believed that they have some type of impact in dragging everything within the cloud forward through time... I invited Captain Martin to come aboard the Intrepid for a meeting to exchange ideas and decide on a course of action. It turned out that the Ren's crew were using the warp drives to excite these unusual particles that had attached themselves to the ship.  They'd tried several times to punch through the membrane that seems to be continuesholding in the time distortion event.  They tried straight power, firing their weapons, they tried everything they could think of.  In essence though, they were using the warp drives to modulate a light warp effect that was causing the particles to get excited.  I think they would have eventually been able to push through the membrane by adding more power to our drive system or perhaps modifying the resonance  fluctuation. However, a theory was forming that when the Intrepid sent in the Probe or the Shuttle through the membrane it let the USS Renaissance break through. It was decided that both the Intrepid and the Renaissance will head back to the cloud and join forces in the attempt to bring the Spock back. As soon as they dropped out of warp, they noticed an increase in the electrical discharge activity within the cloud, a precursor to the next jump in time. It was clear that if action was not taken soon, the Shuttle Spock would be lost to us. We were hailed by the Ren, and on her bridge, Captain Martin appeared to have aged several centuries ahead. She requested to speak with our CMO to help with her problem. I was faced with a very difficult decision. Helping the Ren and her aging crew, who does not even belong in our timeline would have guaranteed the loss the shuttle Spock, who did belong here. On the other hand, there was very unlikely that our doctor would have been able to reveres the effects of time travel and save the crew of the Ren. In the end, I made the decision to offer Martin our help on the condition that we save our shuttle first. Martin was not impressed, but I have left her no choice. In the end, we agreed to receive 73 of what left of her crew and attempt to treat them. In exchange, Martin kept a skeleton crew of volunteers aboard and reentered the cloud. Soon after that, the Spock was located drifting in space. The Intrepid was able to bring her back into shuttlebay safely. The crew, from the Spock and those who beamed over the Ren were treated for the time travel sickness associated with the cloud and fully recovered. Unfortunately, Our efforts to locate and assist the Ren were in vain. The cloud contracted on itself one more time and jumped into time...  As of now, The USS Renaissance was declared a ship lost in time.  The Intrepid jumped to warp after the final investigation into the disappearance of the Ren was concluded. The trip to the outpost 199 was uneventful and journey back home was equally smooth. No hostiles were encountered along the road, not with the 4th fleet or any other, and the crew spent them time mostly contemplating the events of this last adventure and looking forward to the future. The crew of the Ren was in shock at first, but they slowly began the long road or integration into the current timeline. They harbored no ill feelings for the Intrepid or her crew. They would be going through the Federation re-education and integration programs to fit in modern day societies, and those of them who chose to, will work with historians to give us a more complete pictures about the events of the 23rd century
