|Introduction=

|History=Jothan enjoyed his childhood, although it seemed that he moved around a lot more than the other children. His father was an expert miner, and his skills were required all over the province. Interestingly, despite growing up in the same household, this fostered a sense of wanderlust in Jothan, but a homebody attitude in his older brother.

His father sadly passed during Jothan's final year of education, and this affected his final grades. This changed his life dramatically as he decided not to follow his brother into service with the Bajoran militia but instead apply to Star Fleet. His poor grades almost blocked his taking of the entrance exam but he was allowed after glowing recommendations from his tutors.

Travelling to the Academy was his first time leaving the Bajoran system, and his first experience seeing the stars pass at warp made him a little queasy, but by the time he reached the Terran system the viewport on the starboard side of deck 2 was his favourite place on the whole ship.

During his time at the Academy, Jothan had been exposed to countless cultures and new experiences, however the biggest effect had been for him to become more involved in a Bajoran pastime. Jothan had only played Springball socially while back home, but at the academy it gave him a chance to connect with his fellow cadets and he developed a passion for the game.
