Kate was immediately transferred to a Star Base to her annoyance as she wanted to carry on George's wishes but Starfleet felt it would be best all round for her to regain some strength before being put on the frontline. After two years on the Star Base Kate had now become Lt [JG] and reapplied for another transfer and to her surprise was accepted. Her transfer to the USS Copernicus She accepted the transfer with good grace and awaited the Cops arrival at Star Base Alpha.
Her time on the Copernicus was great. She had made a few new friends and got over most of her fear of being out in space on a ship. She was surprised through that she was requested to join a new team over at Star Base Bravo because of her previous experience on a Star Base. Kate had little choice but to accept on a condition it was on a short term basis only. Time went by and eventually Fletcher was asked to join the crew of the USS Ozaki under the command of Captain Simmons. Kate agreed and was soon back out among the stars. It was fine until they went into battle with the Borg and it brought a number of bad memories up for Kate about her husband. The ship was taken out of action and the crew awaited to find out weather they be together or split off onto different ships. Star Fleet however, had a new ship which they handed over to Simmons to command. The USS Nikola Tesla was brand new and shiny. It was the first time Kate came across such a ship.
