An EPI capacitor (Energy Power Inducer) is an energy tool used by Star Fleet in the 24th century.
It expels a quick burst of power in order to jump-start closed energy systems that are without power.
In 2369, Chief Miles O'Brien used this device to overrun the locked hatch of the runabout USS Ganges.
- The Ganges had lost all of its power due to a power failure while on a routine mission in the Gamma Quadrant.
