Jack Frank Crab was born to two fairly young parents. Andrea and Frank had been married a year when Andrea fell pregnant with Jack. When Jack was born he took after his mother in looks and his father in his personality. Jack was trouble from the start, his time at school was marred by fights, absence and causing havoc. It was in his later years at school Jack had an accident with a couple of chemicals that shouldn't have been mixed and blew up in front of him. His parents advised Jack to have the scar removed but in his anti-everyone way he insisted on keeping it. Ending up with a scar above the right temple. <br>
In the later part of his schooling he was soon out drinking, partying and getting a reputation with his seduction of women. Jack was in his element and carried this on even when he eventually went to join Star Fleet.
While at Star Fleet Academy he studied engineering. He also trained in the fighter squadron, but even though coming in the top five his attitude and dangerous flying manoeuvres got him turned down. <br> It was not long before Jack was assigned to an outpost as a Midshipman. To any normal officer being on an outpost would have been boring but not for Jack, he found it was fun after going out with several women officers only to find out that they happened to talk to each other and all realised they were all going out with the same person.<br> After several complaints Crab found himself put on the next transfer off the outpost. When a transfer came up his outpost Commander gave him a promotion to Ensign and in doing so his Commander said, "I would be highly surprised if you get past the rank of Ensign, Mr Crab. To be honest with you I didn't think you would make it to Ensign." <br> Jack left within a few hours for the transport to take him to his new assignment which was the USS Copernicus. Having had to wait on the starbase he knew that being on a starship would provide lots of encounters with the fairer sex. It was the chance to travel that made Jack apply to Star Fleet in the first place. However, after joining the Copernicus he made friends with a new security officer by throwing up on her. [[Moonrose, Kayla|Moonrose]] wasn't happy but they soon got over their differences.<br \>
It wasn't long since Jack joined the Copernicus before he was seconded onto a secret mission to rescue the Copernicus First Officer [[Dys, Gloria|Commander Gloria Dys]] from [[Helven VI]], a planet in Orion Syndicate space. The Chief of Security [[Fields, Jane|Lieutenant Commander Fields]] led the rescue mission to which they did have success. The details of the mission remain classified.
Crab has had several liaisons with women on board ship like he always has done. Jack however, has been surprised at the way his boss, Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander Powell has been to him. Powell hasn't seemed to be worried or concerned very much about Jack's activities unlike his previous bosses.
Crab was however, reassigned to Star Base Bravo. In doing so, Jack hoped that by now he might be returned to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade but again it eluded him. The smudge on his career record was still there and it didn't seem to matter what he would do. It wasn't long before he was based back on a ship. The USS Ozaki. He loved how a tough little ship she was and was sad when it got destroyed thanks to the Borg. Jack also knew this would mean a break up of the crew but lucky enough Star Fleet had a new ship up their sleeve. The Nikola Tesla. Jack still had no promotion through out, so deciding that it would never happen just decided to carry out his duties the best he could.
